Consider that it might be the only thing which would get him away from Batman . If there’s two Superman ongoings then I’m willing to let one be the more riskier book while the other is more “meat and potatoes”, and that’s also why I paired King with Waid. If King isn’t to your taste I’m sure Waid would be.

Let one be the high minded character study and the other is the “fun” straightforward superhero book. That would balance things out and offer some diversity.
Yeah I'd be all for this. Frankly, I wish they did something like this when Bendis was on the books. That way they could have had two separate books with two different writers, with different enough vibes to suit all audiences. I suppose because they gave him so much power over the continuity, their hand was practically forced to give him both books because what was going on in one would be directly impacting the other. I like what they're going with now, two books and two approaches but still close enough so as not to screw with continuity.

I know King is polarizing, and he's hit or miss for me myself, but I do love both of his Super books and would be happy with him writing more. And he and Waid would certainly be different enough in their respective takes. Both clearly want to write the character.

    What a terrific statement...
I asked chat gpt to write something superman..well..it was cringy and laughed.

Verily, I bring thee a tale of a hero of renown,
One of strength and valor, with justice his crown,
An outlaw and champion, a protector of the meek,
His name echoes through the land, and all souls doth it seek.

This hero, known as Superman, roams through the earth,
With his cape billowing, symbol of his worth,
With each step he takes, oppression he doth fight,
And to the oppressed, he bringeth justice and light.

He steals from the rich, who oppress and exploit,
And gives to the poor, who suffer and toil,
A Robin Hood he is, and a hero in truth,
His deeds are known far and wide, in every village and booth.

Verily, he faces foes both fierce and strong,
With might and cunning, he doth right what is wrong,
For he is a hero, of courage and might,
Defender of the meek, and vanquisher of the light.

One day, a warlord did emerge, with power and might,
A threat to all, who sought to rule with an iron sight,
But our hero, undaunted, did gather his crew,
And set forth to face this tyrant, his battle anew.

In a clash of steel and fire, they did engage,
With blows that echoed through the land, a battle of rage,
But in the end, our hero triumphed once more,
And peace did return, to the kingdom and shore.

And so we sing the praises, of this hero divine,
Who roameth through the land, and doth make it thine,
A champion of the oppressed, and a defender of the meek,
His name shall live forever, in story and in speech.

"Official first look. Superman is coming to the White Knight Universe for the first time in BATMAN: BEYOND THE WHITE KNIGHT #8 by @SeanMurphyArt. The last issue is available at your local comic shop on 2/14 but this isn't the end. Stay tuned."

Almost tempted to read this just for the sheer hilarity of seeing what the guy who didn’t know the order of Robins will do with Supes, but I think I’ll just wait for the relevant pages to be shared on social media . It’s going to be awful, of that I have no doubt. I know Murphy had said he wanted to bring in Supes but I was hoping he would just quietly forget that and stick to Batman. God help us if he wants to give Supes the “White Knight” treatment.

It can't be worse than Batman: Fortress.
