It was actually a deliberate homage to the earth angel. Tom King hinted at that at various times though I don't remember if he said it outright. DC acts like that character doesn't exist. Originally Posted by marhawkman

You know, and he brought in Comet too, from pre-Crisis who also shouldn't exist, or didn't at the time. With the restoration of an infinite multiverse I don't know what's real anymore.
