That writer has shown to have issues with POC and female lead titles and writers. Along with Young Adult writers.

Calling one shots and minis failures.

Called Wonder Woman a sales failure. Blamed Nubia and Ya for it. Saying it's them being shoved down throats in WW's book. Neither one has been in the main WW book for now 2 years and he singled OUT Stephanie Phillips. Who is NOT the writer of WW.

Sounds like the bias is strong. But I believe in giving people who are worthy at least a shot at it. That’s a slippery slope with Black Panther writers these days, because even the somewhat capable people seem to be taking things in the wrong direction. I’d love to have a POC on Black Panther, but if whats best for the book right now is to not have someone who’s a POC, I’m all for it.

I do think it's a good question raised though about the people Marvel keeps picking for Black Panther. I think it's more ideological based. Marvel has a certain idea of Black Panther and they find the writers who they think can express that idea, sales be damned.

If you want to expand Wakanda-there are ways to do it without what we have seen the last 8 years.

There is a reason they don't want Redjack-whose resume says he can do that and still respect T'Challa.

I’d be underselling it if I said he made it clear he didn’t want Eve Ewing on the project. Being a writer can be tough man, there’s so much criticism. Don’t get me wrong, some of it is warranted, look at Ridley. But Eve hasn’t dropped a word yet and she’s getting dragged. I only look at it this way because I’m an aspiring writer. Eve wasn’t my first choice at all either. I don’t think I’d take a crack at writing a comic book, the readers are fanatical. But at the same time I get it, because I’m a comic consumer myself.

Redjack being passed over by Coates was one of the worst thing's to happen to T'Challa in the last decade

I'm an idiot as well as a glutton for punishment because I changed my mind and did subscribe to Ewing's BP. I got a slight discount and was thinking of buying several issues anyway so I'm rationalizing that my choice will be economical. As for this lament about Black Panther comics and Ewing, I can't disagree with much of it. I do think they have it wrong when it comes to Ridley. Ridley did have some experience writing superhero comics (The Authority and his American Way series), and he also wrote two superhero/superpowered people novels. And if I recall correctly, Ridley was writing the Jace Fox Batman series before he got going with Black Panther so it wasn't just Marvel that saw something in Ridley. There's a lot about Ewing I didn't know until reading what was written, and it doesn't leave me with high hopes. Comic book writing is a skill, but there have been people before who are new to the artform and have done well. Heh okay thinking about the cast bloat has been making me laugh cause I've been comparing it to trying to have an X-Men sized cast of characters in only one book

In some regards yes , but I felt certain moments were all him and he showed potential. T'Challa vs S'Yan and the update to challenge day to make it even harder and more impressive that T'Challa won through a gauntlet AND even prepped a trap for his uncle. T'Challa vs WS, T'Challa vs Namor, those were all well done.

Other parts were still good even if they didn't quite hit. Again, he showed it's possible to do good work while being a neophyte, though if we are comparing, neophytes at the times they were, Hudlin did it far better overall

The preview for Avengers is out. No Panther yet, but it features very good moments of Carol talking to Tony and Thor.

Hopefully it gives an indication of what Panther's recruitment will be like cause if so it looks pretty good.
