RECOMMENDATIONS

Avengers Defenders War -- arguably the first "event" at Marvel, this was an amazing battle of two of Marvel's biggest teams at that time.

Defenders for a Day

Defenders Indefensible - While there's disagreement amongst Defenders fans about this book, I personally love it. It's a fun look at the Defenders.

Best Defense - an old school gathering of the old team, with a call back to one of the Defenders early foes. It was interesting to see how the four separate issues lead up to this meeting.

There are indeed many great stories from the original run. Omnibus #1 out last Summer and a new Epic printing coming out shortly!

Yes hawkeye is along with captain america, female red guardian, man-thing, vision, defenders for a day members, and others. Defenders membership is a bigger mess on who was in it than dcs justice league with all the reboots!

I think those old team pics were meant to show those that were members for more than 1 or 2 issues, and most, if not all shown were in 10+ issues.

But Hawkeye certainly qualifies as an early member.
