Just wait until the Valentine’s Day post, they’ve been consistent with that almost every year ontop of the little nods here and there from the Sony picture animation accounts on social media that lean heavy into it along with their other pairs from the animated films in their library.

The movie worked well enough given movie conventions around meet cutes. The comic arc was awfully forced.

Sitting in a Tree? Yeah, and it was quickly forgotten too - when the Champions were about to look for more members, Miles suggested Spider-Woman, meaning Gwen. Everyone laughed at him because of her being from an AU, they didn't even believe she was real. The problem? Kamala actually met Gwen during Sitting in a Tree. She showed up worried because Miles had missed the events of Champions #5 (the issue where Gwenpool tried to join the team) due to being on Earth-65. Waid either didn't read Sitting in a Tree (which is odd considering one of the Champions was involved, you'd think a team book writer would keep up to date of what's happening in the team members' solo books) or quickly forgot about Kamala showing up there.

The appeal of Spider-Gwen is that she is reverse Gwen Stacy-616. Gwen Stacy-616 is the love interest who died. Spider-Gwen is the Gwen Stacy who is the protagonist and who lost her love interest.

There are four problems that she has:

1) she just isn't very similar to any other version of Gwen Stacy, especially Earth-616 or Emma Stone's. Without that link she's a spider-woman with a cool costume.

2) she hit the world at just the right moment when a lot of people were generally annoyed with how Stone's version of the character had been fridged. The time of that momentum has passed.

3) the momentum was used up when the writers put her through the wringer and had her lose her powers and make a deal with evil Murdoch to get them back. That ran directly counter to the appeal of the character, which appeal was that she was the one who survived and got powers. She needed to be no more pessimistic and angsty than early eighties Spider-man. (It didn't help that the plot was completely misconceived, with evil Murdoch's motives not making any sense outside comic villainy.)

4) the ItSV films set her up as the love interest for Miles Morales. Much as the first film was one of the best animated or superhero films ever and exposed her to a wider audience, her thing is that she's Not the love interest. If she's the love interest for a better established male character she loses much of her point.

Some of those could be fixed down the road. The lack of similarities are easier to bridge in an adaptation. Emma Stone liked the idea of Spider-Gwen so there's that answer. You could also have Spider-Gwen comment on what her other self did. The Variants would be better if they reflected her history more. Having her meet the Gwen that lived instead of died or Ultimate Universe Gwen would've been ideal.

The next two are just situational and would pass with time. And I don't mind her with Miles but it's easier to resolve because they are still young so they could always breakup. She should have a love interest that isn't Peter or Miles.

Marvel Rising replaced Peter with a new character to kill off. So it would be easier to replace the other MU Variants with someone else if they need to.

If I recall there wasn’t an interview about that. The spider-besties was just a twitter post one of their least liked twitter post cause knowbody was believing what the account poster was saying compared to what lord&miller have been hinted at in recent interviews. During the last q&a that came after the second trailer dropped they did say it will be hard for them but their relationship will continue to evolve threw out the film. Hailee Steinfeld Even says no matter far apart they are they will find some way back to one another. I think it’s best we just wait and see cause it seems to me like they are developing their relationship naturally taking their time with it instead of rushing.

Ah. Ok, then. Makes more sense, especially your last point about taking their time to more naturally develop and evolve the Gwen/Miles relationship instead of rushing it. I can definitely see that.

Yeah, it would most likely be 616 Warren/Jackal, but the idea of a Gwen variant becoming her world's version of the Jackal . . . especially if she started out using it to try to "bring back" her version of Peter Parker or Mary Jane Watson . . . that could be tragically poetic.
