    Its amusing both how different Venom looks and how flat a character Eddie was back then. Its incredible what character development and constant appearances can do for you.

    Imagine how things could have went had Marvel went with their different plans to have the symbiote change hosts after Eddie. Apparently the next host would have been a woman seeking vengeance because she had a miscarriage as the taxi driver was looking at Spider-Man fighting a villain and crashed.
    It took a long time for the Symbiote to get back Eddie but what a wild ride it's been .

    Wait correction on that, the original idea for Venom was a woman who suffered the thing and wants revenge

    But apparently the writers went the other way because........ they thought a woman couldn't possibly be a physical challenge for Spider-Man, ouch.

    When Venom was created, late, late 1980s Spider-man had only had one prominent female foe.....The Black Cat.
    Now, by the time of Venom she had gone straight. Not even gone gray as recent developments have made her. She was either a sidekick to Peter on a hero mission or living her life on the straight and narrow. This would be her through the 1990s.

    Calypso had been created but was still a C/D list character.

    I picked up Venom: Lethal Protector II #1 along with the trade for the first Lethal Protector mini, and I have to say they were pretty good!
