That's very cool.
"I was an X-men fan growing up, but didn't know much about Dani Moonstar until much more recently. I have to admit, I love her power."
Same. Same.
From Hell To Hibernation
"The "storm" that killed Dani's parents turned out to be a manifestation of her own fears, transforming her parents into an angry Demon Bear."
Hmm. Still not entirely sure what the deal with that critter is but I guess I will save my questions for next years thread.

She barely put it down all Christmas day. I practically had to stand her on her head to get her to drop it and go to bed.
That sounds like the movie version of the Demon Bear. Of course, I still haven't watched it, so I could be wrong.
Another favourite pic, this one by Peter Nguyen. I've got some more, but I'll save them for the new thread on Monday.

Well, it's been kind of an up-and-down year for Dani.
Year started off with the cancellation of New Mutants volume 4 -- which had been hijacked a bit at the end by writer Charlie Jean Anders to focus on her newly created character, Escapade. The cancellation left Dani "publication homeless," which was bad.
But then it got announced that she was going to appear in several 2023 mini-series, such as Lethal Legion, the Magneto flashback, and Realms of X -- which was good.
The first of these [Lethal Legion] came out in the spring, and was pretty bad. Again, the author [Anders] used it as a vehicle for Escapade, with the New Mutants being peripheral, and the ostensible comedy of the plot was bad. Thumbs down.
Dani's cameo in the Magneto limited series was brief, but it was a cool flashback to her early time with the New Mutants -- so it was net-good.
Dani also had a one-shot cameo in Bishop's War College series, where she went toe-to-toe [or rather, nose-to-nose] with Bishop over his training tactics. Again, a fleeting glimpse, but squarely in character, so again -- net good.
Orchis / Nimrod orchestrated the Fall of X and downfall of the Krakoan nation, which was bad.
But Dani was one of the few survivors, catapulted into an other-dimensional adventure in Realms of X -- which was good.
But the mini-series overall was somewhat lame, which was bad.
In the midst of all this, a Moonstar character got introduced into Contest of Champions -- which was good.
But she ends 2023 again without a publication home, and an unclear path forward -- which is bad.
However, it was recently reported that she'll be on the cover of the January issue of X-Men Unlimited -- so perhaps that's her landing spot? That would be good!
