Green Lantern #1 is available at local comic shops on May 9 and also features part one of John Stewart: The Good Soldier from writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson (Action Comics) and artist Osvaldo Montos (Entropy)—a war journal epic begins anew.

Unfortunately it seems John has been reduced to a backup for now. Hopefully this is like how Mark Waid’s World’s Finest or Williamson’s Robin series started out as backups before spinning off into their own ongoings.

Well, I hope PKJ makes the most of the page space he's got.

Wasn’t that how it was originally announced? That there would be a green lantern book for Hal and then later spinning out of it would be Johns own series?

I hope that’s still true but clearly there have been shakeups behind the scenes given the change in creative teams for Hal.

*Edit- Well, Nvm! But considering how teams are changing I'm not getting too comfy just yet.

Yeah you all jumped the gun about the John Stewart series. It is spinning out as planned courtesy of PKJ

Good news indeed! Saves me from posting the Dude saying “this is a bummer, man.”

Good, that’s what I was hoping was the case. Do the backups as a buildup to John’s own series launching. Man am I happy to have multiple GL books again.

This is good news. It seems like I would have to buy the first book to read John's backup story by PKJ it seems. Glad that it builds for John's upcoming solo series.

It makes me wonder whether there's going to be a different artist for the backup series and the main series. Either way I hope we get some really good talented artists.

Was thinking about that myself. Sampere has a project coming but he’s not announced for the Hal book or the John backups. Maybe he’s going to be doing John’s proper book with PKJ once that launches? He already has worked with PKJ before on Action so I could see it happening.

I'm way more excited about PJK's John than Hal's story, but I hope the backups help generate interest in John's book so that it can grow beyond a mini.
Hal and John should both have at least 12 issues guaranteed, like what Marvel did with Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson.

Let's hope that is true! Sampere is a strong gifted talented artist. I believe that's something that the GL franchise REALLY needs right now. It was a wonderful treat to have Santucci to do John Stewart: Emerald Knight. But great talented work shouldn't end there. Especially if DC is really serious about wanting the GL franchise to gain lots of attention like it did around the Johns' era of Green Lantern.

Please don't pay attention to people like that, if "Skronnk" is even an actual real person. I'd like to think that fans who had legit gripes with your opinions on Hal would not express themselves like this.
