Blue Beetle Appreciation 2023!!!

Enjoyed Graduation Day but one thing I’m not a fan of is how Trujillo seems to only want Jaime to fight evil copycats of himself. What made Jaime’s first series great is how he got to fight all kinds of foes from tech based to metas to magic. I want to see that again.


Oh neat I never read his New 52 series since I heard it sucked, that is a good change. Bummer they’re going back but you know how DC is.

You know is Trujillo secretly a Big Bad Beetleborgs fan? I mean Jaime has felt like a tokusatsu/power rangers characters at times but now with a team of multicolored beetles it’s kind of starring us right in the face.

Loved the movie as well, it had a lot of heart to it. And I think there’s hope for it to be a decent financial success. The film only cost $104 million and as Pixar’s elemental proved, what ultimately matters is WOM and strong legs.

This movie was so damn good! Word of mouth got me into the theater and I and so glad. Probably my favorite DC film. It’s unfortunate that BB is following the Flash dumpster fire but I am doing my part and spreading the good word about this film.

If I understand where we are post Dark Crisis of Infinite EGOTs, could we now possibly get a story where all three Beetles are featured? Because now everything exists at the same moment and no moment everything everyone everywhere everywhen?

I just saw the film and I really loved it! Shame it isn’t doing good at the box office! On a side note, really hope they use the movie version of Carapax in the comics! That’s a solid update on an old character

There’s a lot of Easter eggs in Blue Beetle but it seem like a lot of people missed a big one. Just curious how many who watched it picked up on a the rather major plot point that was extremely don’t blink or you’ll miss it.

In the opening sequence as the scarabs are flying through space (multi-colored scarabs. nice!) Khaji Da gets hit with a green bean of light. Soto confirmed that that was indeed a Green Lantern trying to stop it. Which I’m guessing is the reason why the scarab malfunctioned.

“At the beginning of the title sequence, for those of you guys that follow the Blue Beetle comics, there's a green light that hits this character, and that's a Green Lantern. If you didn’t catch it, watch it again. Also, on the bug layer, and you see it also at the end, there's a stack of Oreos, and who likes to eat Oreos?”

I've never had a superhero film actually get me excited about a character like Blue Beetle did. As soon as credits were rolling I was purchasing Jaime Reyes Vol 1 off of Amazon. I've almost finished! What other runs of the character should I check out?

I've got some pretty good Ted Kord recommendations as well.
