I loved Joe Kelly's JLA run!
One of the highlights.... despite being a story with a rather depressing ending, was the Burning Martian story. thing is... to fully soak up all of this story... you need to read 10 months of comics... also... for additional context, the Emperor Joker thing from years ago would be good to read, though not really needed.
but that's why it felt so good to see the ending... despite the ending being DEPRESSING. i Loved how issue 79 ended with the words "End." "Beginning." the last few pages are the start of the Burning Martian story.
Also this happens rather early in the story:
It's one of those "I'm not sure what just happened, but it feels like something just went HORRIBLY wrong!!!!!" moments.
Perhaps not as large a mainstream moment as some but it was a truly wondrous moment seeing the Artemis and the Amazons and the Achilles's Thalarion Crewmen unite to leap to the rescue of their Princess Diana - completely ignoring the villainous Circle warriors - to their absolute disbelief - in WONDER WOMAN (Vol 3) #39 by Gail Simone and Aaron Lopresti.
It felt like a moment that would be absolutely amazing cinematically.

The visual of the groups diving into the water is perhaps the best Lopresti bit of work during his WW run.

Bane taking bricks to the face from Gail Simone's Secret Six. And willing to take it in order to not give his enemy satisfaction:
"I am a man of peace."
"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."
One of my favorite moments from Batman's Knightfall. Yes, there is the climatic back breaking, but there were a ton of other moments when Batman reached deep down and kept going. Here's what happened when he went against Firefly:
"I am a man of peace."
"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."
That time when Cassandra Cain established herself as being a bullet timer:
"I am a man of peace."
"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."
Nightwing and Robin teaming up against the bad guys in Tom Taylor's new run:
"I am a man of peace."
"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."
Diana reflects an energy blast from the gods towards the mountain that was once Olympus. (Wonder Woman Volume 2, #21)
Wonder Woman Volume 3, Issue #14
Gail Simone shows off Diana's skills as a fighter.
