Default Most Awesome Moments in DC Comics Appreciation 2023

Hi all. Here is the new 2023 appreciation thread for the most awesome moments in DC! This is for those moments that were filled with justice and were adventurous and action-packed. These are the moments where even if there was a crisis, the heroes proved themselves up to the task. It's for those scenes that shocked and surprised you, that made you go "wow," and that still resonate with you years later. They can be badass or tender, well-known or particular. In short whichever moments that were awesome.

To get the ball rolling, here are some of my favorites:

Here is a classic scene from Scott Snyder's Court of Owl run. Batman has been trapped for days in the Court's labyrinth. On the verge of madness and just before the court's Talon goes in for the kill, Batman manages to find a way. He issues his warning, but you can tell he was pushed to his limit:

This impressed me during my first reading. We've seen Bats pushed to the edge before. I thought I saw some things with Knightfall. But this? This felt different.
"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

One of my favorite moments from Action Comics had to be Chuck Austen's (yes, Chuck friggin Austen)'s run. Here are some scenes where Superman takes on Gog. I know there was a story here, but for me the selling point was the art. Just beautiful to see Superman's fight:

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

That's not impressive. That's Austen writing Superman in a way that many fans complained about: as a smug, smarmy, douchebag of a jackass.

I can see that. However, for me, I think I was more focused on the art at the time. Ivan Reis' stuff was great and would foreshadow his later work with DC, like this scene from the Blackest Night series with all of the heroes facing against Black Hand and the Black Lanterns:
"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

Knightsend had a ton of favorite moments for me. One was when we see Lady Shiva training Bruce. Love how the narration states how it took that long in order for Bruce to hit Lady Shiva:

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."

There's also this scene where Bruce fights this mofo ninja. That narration, "Not a hand. A knife. My hand is a knife," still gets me.

"I am a man of peace."

"A man of peace...who fights like ten tigers."
