    Default Nemesis: Reloaded #1 Review/Discussion

This is hard, not because I can’t find the words but really because this is just kind of simple. It’s exactly what it says it is, and what it is is a reboot of Millar’s previous series about what if Batman was a psycho criminal. That is exactly what this is, we see a guy who through the use of money and power is running wild, says he’s trained with the worlds worst criminals for 20 years, and utilizes guns and gadgets as he gleefully kills people. Hell he even has Batman’s motorcycle.

But here’s the thing we really don’t know what it is this guy wants. He claims he has a plan and says people will know it in a weeks time, but we don’t really get an inkling to what it is all about aside from causing mayhem in LA and putting hits on police. I suppose that’s the problem with a mini that we have to wait and see for the story to play out but we also know that somehow this will lead to Millar’s own crossover event in July, something that he promotes in the front and back of the book. That means we may not see the titular character die this time but instead just be set up as a piece on a board for Millar to play with.

If there is anything that seriously lifts this book up it’s the other thing Millar has taken from Batman, his artist. Jorge Jimenez carries over his fluid artwork from his work on Batman which genuinely works well with all the violence and action. It would be fair to say that the art is doing a lot of the heavy lifting in issue 1, but again it’s not bad.

"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
    Words to live by.
