Damn thats a lot of announcements, especially Sandman. Cool that he's getting a new series, off the heel of the Mystery Theater recollection.
Looking forward to these, hope they are great.

The Corrigan Spectre is a close analogy to Marvel's Captain Mar-Vell. A cosmic character without a huge fan base gets a wonderfully done final appearance. Both companies have tried to put someone else in the role but where Marvel found a suitable replacement legacy, DC has reintroduced the original.
That Ostrander series was a fine piece of work.

Yeah, but DC's idea of a replacement was to kill off Green Lantern! That was doomed from the start, they were always going to return Hal Jordan to his classic status quo sooner or later.
And Marvel had multiple false starts with Captain Marvel. Monica Rambeau only ever had two one-shots and the role of Avengers chairperson. She wasn't a successful solo character. Then they introduced two clone children of Mar-Vell (Genis and Phyla), who each had turns with the mantle. Both were killed off. Then they tried a resurrection fakeout - it was really a Skrull. And only then settled on former love interest Carol Danvers, who'd been a superhero herself since the mid 1970s under several other codenames. She's probably going to have the role forever, unfortunately for Shazam, who's always had marketing woes caused by Marvel's Captains.

They really need to put the character to rest. All he does is job in the next crossover (ex. Final Crisis/Blackest Nights) or gets turned into a villain (like in Days of Vengeance). DC pretty much did nothing with Crisus. It just shows the Ostrander run was the end for the property.
The catch there is that if they don't do something with the character, he eventually falls into public domain. That's why just about every character DC owns eventually ends up reappearing at some point.
