    NOT AN ENTRY!
But I can't let this contest go without posting my favorite page from Sub-Mariner from my favorite issue. It was a one and done, pencil, inks and story by Dan Adkins.
It was a fill in to help the ailing Bill Everett meet deadlines, and if you see my cover from Sub-Mariner #57, you see Everett still delivered the goods.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

I'll always think it's funny that the old Marvel Superheroes 60's show took this issue and the wedding of Reed and Sue and erased all references to the FF ( and called the X-Men the "Heroes for Peace" ??) and turned them into a Submariner episode.

At first I thought it was covers featuring Rex, the Wonder Dog. Silly me.

Also the first appearance of DD's all red suit!

Great artwork. It’s rather rare to see in US comics an artist doing both pencil and ink… Having total control certainly helps to personal involvement and better result.

I think this was done by Wally Wood. Great DD vs Sub-Mariner story.

    So many great covers.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Adkins was primarily an inker. He was a protege of Wally Wood. But he occasionally did full art. This was one of his best books from Marvel. The other was Dr.Strange 170.

This panel was done by Alex Maleev and the Subby fans called it his cousin "Shamor" since it didn't look very much like classic Namor. I think this issue was from when Osborn was forming the Cabal and Namor was at a low point at this time.

This is a terrible choice for me to pick just one cover. But I've waffled long enough. I have to pick a Big John Buscema cover, and even then there, I'm torn. But I'm going with this one.

Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

Maleev just lighgtboxed a photo of his friend Brian Bendis for Namor in that panel, I don't think there was an in-story reason for him being ugly other than that.
