Watching the Arrow Family take on drones of the League was pretty fun. I guess Ollie just can't help going up against the League in some form. "This is awesome!" - Red Canary, still an utter fangirl. Emiko looks fantastic with long hair. Williamson modernizing Merlyn's origin with the classic stuff mixed in with the Arrow synergy stuff. Surprised they didn't mention how he was sleeping with Oliver's mom and they teamed-up to be villains together in Percy's run. But that would kind of be a lot. You'd think Ollie and Dinah would've been able to realize someone was in their bedroom... Really doubling down on how much this run is about family that they're literally being used to fight them. Look at all the different costumes/looks! We even got JLI Dinah!

Merlyn, guy is really old yet he's still matching Ollie who is several decades his jr. Even though Ollie is currently the best archer in the world, Merlyn really was the best of his time.

I HATED how Ben Percy turned this version of Merlyn into Malcolm Merlyn out of f*cking nowhere with no explanation whatsoever or even build-up just because the Arrow show was a thing at one point.

However, I'll be damned, Williamson actually made it work despite of the lackluster introduction in his opening arc. This series continues to improve fortunately.

Looks like Izaakse is doing the slow fade away. Only done one full issue of art since #4.

I don't think Izaakse is leaving. I could be wrong but I think the other artists are just helping the book stay on time. Which considering the JSA delays I'm happy with; especially with how good the art has been on this volume of Green Arrow. All DC editors should take note. Line up multiple creative teams for your books so there aren't major delays. Also make sure said teams mesh well so it isn't jarring when reading the books.

Ugh. I dealt with back issues for several years before getting surgery, and as successful as it was, there are still the occasional bad days. And a job like his that probably requires a fair bit of sitting can make it worse.
Hope he can get some relief.

Can you explain what Percy did with Meryln exactly?

Well, I think I already did it fine enough but I will talk a bit even further.

The Rebirth title under Percy still followed a lot of the New 52 continuity at the time of publication and before he arrived into the series, previous writers built-up the appearance of Tommy Merlyn as Oliver's best friend and the one who would eventually become his nemesis due to the accident that left them both stranded in different islands. However, Percy threw this out immediately because, with no sense of preparation or escalation whatsoever, he turned the Merlyn of this universe into Malcolm Merlyn who didn't have any appearance at all before in Green Arrow comics and wasn't even mentioned at all, we didn't even know that such person existed in this universe which makes it pretty obvious that Percy just used him because Malcolm was a character in the Arrow show that was airing at the time but I think worst of all is that Percy didn't even create any build-up for the appearance of any kind of Merlyn since he was doing a bunch of random stuff during his run and that seems like a total waste since we're talking about Green Arrow's most known villain.
