Default What do you think of the new Night Court?

I'm just happy that it didn't spit on the original Night Court with the new Juge being Harry stones' daughter. And at least saying he passed on, being that the actor Harry Anderson passed away was at least giving his character some acknowledgment. Of course, we also lost Markie Post and Charles Robinson recently as well. The show seems ok, and slowly seems to bring the insanity of the original show into this show. I hope more shows go this way instead of unnecessary reboots forgetting or rewriting what came before the past like the new Quantum Leap, The new Reboot animated show, Transformers Beast Machines, and so many others.

I was watching one of the new Quantum Leaps and saw commercials for Magnum PI and Night Court. BTW, the new QL is a sequel to the original and features mentions and some characters from the original series.

I have seen the first couple episodes and think it was mildly entertaining and cute. It is not as good as the original but it had more then one moment that made me laugh. I think the cast is good. I dont think it will have a long run but for a season or two it will give me a couple chuckles.

And the verdict is in....it's the #1 most watched new comedy this year.

NBC may have struck gold with this new Night Court.

Night Court now stands the No. 1 broadcast premiere of the 2022-23 season in both the 18-49 demo and in total viewers. What’s more, the premiere delivered the highest total audience for any comedy series premiere since ABC’s The Conners in 2018, and the best for an NBC laffer since Will & Grace itself got revived in 2017.
There appears to be a theme with these hit shows.

I'm somewhat happy to hear that. That and I'm also happy that this new Night Court doesn't spit on the original. And hope it brings back interest in the original Night Court again. Let's hope we get 6 seasons like the original show did, and not a rough first 4 seasons that ended with two actresses' death from lung cancer. Starting from the original Night Court's pilot the actress playing the public defender keep quitting 3 times until they settled Markie Post and the first lady to play the female bailiff in the first two seasons died from lung cancer, only to have her replacement die exactly the same way. Marsha Warfield as the female bailiff ended that nightmare. And also the first court clerk last the show after the first season.

Would love to see Bob and June Wheeler make an appearance. Is Brent Spiner doing anything these days?

    It's a possibility.

I watched the first 2 episodes and was not impressed. I loved the original 80's series but this reboot is not my cup of tea.

I saw an episode of the new Night Court in a restaurant and they advertised the new Magnum. Definitely seeing a pattern here. Get people to start watching network television again by throwing out names of old shows people know about.

I probably will give it a watch largely because it is acknowledging the original rather than another restart. I've never watched even a single episode of the Hawaii Five-O remake but I probably would have if it had acknowledged the original rather than being a rehash.

You missed out. The new Hawaii 5-O was fantastic! Also, Magnum PI isn't new. It was on CbS for 3 seasons and is moving to NBC now for the fourth.

Underwhelmed. That said, I'm going to give some time. Some shows take a while to steady up and soar.

had mixed feelings about the first 2 episodes. Tonight's episode was a huge improvement.

Well, now I'll probably give it a try.

Neither here nor there but, when the first episode of the original Hawaii Five-O aired, I thought the show was going to be borderline science fiction because that's how the first episode came across.

I found the first episode boring. The second was alright and felt more like the original it was enjoyable but nothing earth-shattering.
