Orange is the old Gold. Coloring technology was such that (mostly) flat orange was the best you were going to get to convey Kari's gold skin on regular paper. If you had some baxter print then you might get some extra shading. I don't think Tamaraneans are meant to be as yellow gold as the Sovereign race to which Ayesha and Adam Warlock belong in Marvel's GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. I've always thought their hue would skew more towards somewhere between yellow gold and tangy bronze.

yeah, don't think Tamaraneans were ever meant to have metallic skin. But non-metallic "gold" translates to a yellow-orange color.

In several ways Kommand'r feels more like a frenemy than a true enemy. Which gets reflected in how... the people of Tamaran don't hate her in general. Like the DCUO version of Blackfire is ruler of Tamaran. Starfire is exiled from Tamaran.... by decree of Blackfire! But this suggests the Tamaraneans in general support Blackfire.

I dunno, going from the cartoons to early comics she felt like she fit perfectly as an archenemy.

Once past the initial storyline, she is not a threat to Star anymore.
It’s satisfying the first time, but she not a challenge for Star physically and never was.

Even in the nostalgic sense for people who loved the animated series she never gave her a good fight.

There isn’t much for Blackfire to bring and I think that’s why they don’t use her very much except for revamped rehash of the initial storyline. They are not rivals, And after watching the color purple the idea of selling family into slavery is more fresh in my mind as despicable not to be forgiven

I liked their fights in the cartoon.

Honestly she can be not just a threat power-wise but politically. She basically won in the second Tamaranean storyline and Kory never forgave her for that.

It wasnt even a fight the first time
And the second time, she super charged herself (all the “ I always was the better fighter”) out the window
Time take off the glasses Frontier, the show did her dirty, the charm comes from that 5 second wind up shot which is excellent to this day

Teen titans go gave them a more satisfactory clash

They probably could have pulled off a more involved fight with her but I liked the second fight just the same. I'm sure had the DCAMU gotten to do their Blackfire storyline we could've got an amazing fight out of it.
