There are big hints that we’re getting a new Uncanny X-Men AND/OR a new Uncanny Avengers in time for the 60th anniversary for both teams, so who would be on your ideal roster? Post it here: no more than 8 characters, with an equal amount of X-related characters and Avengers related characters—also anyone that has been announced for the new Avengers roster by MacKay & Villa are off the board.

Not sure who has been announced for the new roster, but I always wanted an all-female team and here are my choices:

Hellion (mutant, hasn't been an Avenger or an X, technically, but it's long past time. Has the same powers as Justice, and compete with him mercilessly, every chance he gets!)
Stingray (Avenger, ally of Namor, team techie)
Wasp / Janet van Dyne (founding Avenger, has flirted with Magneto and Havok, certainly seems mutant-curious...)
Wolverine / Laura Kinney (mutant X, every team needs a schnikt-bub, or, in this case, a schnikt-babe)
Dazzler (mutant X, pop icon, get out of her spotlight Jan!)
Finesse (former Avenger Academy student, has history with Laura...)

I went for people who would absolutely have all sorts of weird Bickerson's energy, with Hellion and Justice, Jan and Alison, Finesse and Laura all having reasons to step on each others toes a bit (and Manifold and Stingray wondering WTF they did to deserve this). Even if it meant I had to exclude a bunch of my favorite C-tier As or Xs like Genis-Vell, Songbird and Living Lightning, or Frenzy, Madrox or Nightcrawler!

Beast(he can't start a redemption arc in X-men, that boat has sailed)

Quicksilver (both mutant and Avenger)
Scarlet Witch (both mutant and Avenger)
Namor (both mutant and Avenger)
Justice(both mutant and Avenger)

Doctor Voodoo
Photon(team leader)


All relatively heavy hitters, with Beast perhaps in the background as the science support while showing he is a "good guy". I wanted to add Wonder Man, Mantis, Madrox, Moon Dragon, Rogue, Vision, etc but perhaps they can come on for an arc or 2.

Several have been on both teams and would make sense to have combined loyalties.

Focus would be more supernatural with this team, with Beast, Justice, and Photon looking for the scientific reason to non-scientific phenomena.

Wanda & Carol are on the new MacKay lineup, but that’s a hell of a lineup.

Also Brunhilde is currently dead, and the current Valkyries are Jane Foster and Runa (Runa's the movie synergy one). And Jean Grey is Marvel Girl (she went back to that name when Hickman's X-Men run started), Maya Lopez, usually Echo, is the current Phoenix.

I think what we're getting is the people on that FCBD cover plus maybe one or two other Avengers (the cover shows only two Avengers and the rest are X-Men - and one of those Avengers is Quicksilver who's been on X-Factor and debuted in X-Men, so he could represent either side). Wasn't the previous Unity Squad a nine-person team? If this one is too there's a couple missing.

Started with 6, went to 9 after the first mission. What I’ve been told is that the characters on the cover aren’t a part of the UA lead up, but will be involved in the other stories being told in it. Duggan’s writing both, with art by Cassara for one story, and Garron for the other.

I know, that is why I specified Brunhilde; she is my Valkyrie choice. I don't like Jane Foster Valkyrie. If I could have my druthers...

To my knowledge, Jean Grey herself has not gone by Marvel Girl since she ditched her old green mini and started wearing a variation of the First Hellfire Gala gown, now about 1.5 years. Also, when Jean recently went up against the Progenitor Celestial--and beat it--it stated that Jean was and is and will always be Phoenix. Yeah, that's how I see it as well. I predict Echo will not be hosting the PF by the Fall.

There are so many great characters to choose from, I could easily do another list or two of 8! Since my first team were all women, I did not give Beast Honorable Mention, but I like that you did. Deep down, he is good---we just have to get back to that Hank!
