There was an Avengers solo story yeaaaars back Where Hawkeye is grief stricken over Mockingbird's death and does some hero drifting. He discovers and rescues Rover, The last of a genetically engineered race of Furry Humanoids. The Evil corp that Created them pulled the plug on the Project abd Rover Goes onthe rum Hawkeye swoops in for the save and it looked like they were going to travel around being buddy heroes but I never saw a follow up.
