Man, I cannot believe Rocket Raccoon #2 isn't in the top 10. Even without the Loot Crate order I though it would still be sitting comfortably up there.

According to BC, Loot Crate ordered 150-180k copies of Rocket Raccoon #1.

At this point it kind of goes without saying that when Marvel puts an ongoing in the top 10 its gonna be a number #1 and it wont be in the top ten the next month. Only spidey has done any different.

August's Top 50 Comic Books and Graphic Novels

    Of note:

Rocket #2 fell to rank 17. A quick guesstimate would be a delta of -78.22%.

Grayson #2 fell to rank 19.

    Spider-Man 2099 #2 fell to rank 30.

Legendary Star Lord #2 dropped out of the top 50.

Teen Titans #2 fell 5 spots to rank 40.

New Suicide Squad #2 fell 6 spots to 47.

The double shipping of Harley Quinn proved to be successful with #9 @ rank 7 and #10 @ rank 13.

Whats interesting to me is DC has 27 titles in the top 50 Marvel managed 20 and image had 3. Yet Marvel still outsold DC overall.

And I see Harley Quinn dropped out of the Top 10 with issue 10. Still, the book lasted surprisingly long up there.

It's good to see Loki: Agent of Asgard being one of Marvel's best selling trade paperbacks. Might keep the title from getting the ax.

That's the old problem with DC's lack of mid-level books. Marvel is killing them from ranks 50 to 150.

    Top 100 Comics: August 2014

Looks like the movie did **** all for Marvel because Flash #34 and Legendary Star-Lord #2 tied @ rank 52.

Storm #2 fell from rank 46 to rank 88.

    Cyclops #4 barely made top 100 @ rank 100.

Well yeah, it's well established now that movies will help push trades in bookstores way more so than individual issues in comic book stores.

Yet there is one TV series that helped make its parent title a top 10 book. Go figure.

Yet in spite of the supposed over-ordering of issue #1, it shows up again moving 7,738 re-ordered issues at rank #224.

I'm gonna stick with my prediction that retailers massively under-ordered issue 2.

I find it frustrating that some of the best writers in the biz don't have a bigger built in audience. Mark Waid's excellent Doctor Spektor only sells 5,621? Jeff Parker's fun Flash Gordon only 6,657?
