Default Why no loss of limbs in recent Star Wars?

    For protagonists I mean.

Because Rey is a woman and its a social taboo to show women being maimed in media, at least for media with broad appeal.

Because it wasn't important to the story?

But the female Fennic acquired robotic guts in the Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.
So why not Rey or any of the main cast of the Sequel Trilogy?

Something also absent from the game Fallen Order, despite the game's only weapon being a lightsaber unless you count the force. Although the sequel may fix that.

Parody video which makes this point:

Think there's been a lot of lightsaber burns and impalements though....

They've been busy chopping up cyborgs and droids.

Yeah ... like there isn't a hugely popular show on network tv all about women being sexually assaulted that's been on every single week for the past 20 years...(and yes, even the protagonsit)

There was ultimately a symbolism between Anakin and Luke losing appendages that became a defining moment for both at the climax of Episode VI. Rey's defining moment was more about finally learning who she was.

Plus, Rey can block another lightsaber better. Yeah, I said it.

With Carl Weathers appearing on The Mandalorian, it's only a matter of time before he loses a hand.

Not exactly the same thing but Finn had some pretty nasty injuries in TFA-Kylo pretty much really did a number on his shoulder (Finn did it to Kylo too but only really a glancing blow) and his back.

If anyone is actually bent of out of shape about Rey not losing a limb, the simple answer is that it's been played out - I mean, they even got Marvel involved and everyone lost a hand one year. I think they're just putting that to rest for awhile.
