X-Men #20 - Review/Spoilers

Loved it. It felt like an old school X-Men super hero comic. I’m a sucker for non-X mutants appearing and we’ve had it twice now in this series (Whirlwind, Typhoid Mary).

I wonder if the mutants will “fix” Mary or get her help. Aurora is doing well. How interesting would Mary be as an X-Woman?

I would have to say that this was definitely my favorite issue of Year 2 and loved the Nightmare reveal. That slap is gonna sting for awhile.

Bringing back Nightmare for this is kinda genius. Good game, Duggan.

What I like is that the using the potential of MU atits fullest, as well as giving devil's due. Nightmare and Kingpin becomes enduring villains for justifiable reasons. They can be vicious bastards that really challenge their opponents even outside mere physical contest.
Kingpin I particularly compensate being "mere" human by being a damn smart manipulator (when is not derailed by his obsession with devil...<because sometimes the only thing holding back some villains is their fixation with their nemesis>)

I really don't think people give Duggan enough credit. He isn't the Claremont, Morrison, Hickman innovator on the X-titles but his writing is solid.

It's like Duggan completely forgot how to write Magik after Judgement Day. Why is the person who criticized Havok for not taking that fight seriously spontaneously breaking out into dance in the middle of a crisis now?

I liked it because of how weird Illyana can be. If it were a bunch of Krakoans dancing she wouldn't even care but to see a killer alien race start doing Thriller, it makes me laugh that she's tickled by it. It's my headcannon now that she allowed dance parties in limbo.

...and Duggan was firing the engines on full throttle with this issue. It's interesting that while it's connected to the Captain Marvel story, it really is its own separate thing. I can't wait to see how this Brood Saga 4.0 (or is it 5.0?) finishes up.

Typhoid MAAARRRRYYYYYY!!!!! and Fisk...is quite the intriguing development.

And you're right Sibz...Nightmare showing up in this capacity was a completely unexpected surprise...(tips hat to Duggan)

(I really want to be petty and say something about whatever's happening 100 years in some future or the other but...between this and SW #3 I'm sated and happy and don't want indigestion).
