And going by the leaked DLC roster if looks like we don't be getting any Bloodsport or Peacemaker anytime soon.

This game is rigidly attached to the 2016 movie despite being 8 years out of date.

And think people want to play as spoilers:
    gender-flipped Deadshot and gender-flipped Mr. Freeze .
    end of spoilers

Deadshot was chosen because this game has been in development since 2017, so the line-up was chosen based on the Ayer movie. This is pretty obvious when you consider that some of the rumoured DLC characters are Katana and Killer Croc.

Bloodsport, Deadshot, Deathstroke...they are all pretty interchangeable characters at the end of the day. I fairly certain Bloodsport in Gunn's Suicide Squad was originally meant to be Deadshot and there is also some concept art that shows Deathstroke leading the team instead.

You are right on this. Gunn's TSS was originally written for Deadshot but when Will Smith couldn't do the movie for scheduling issues, they changed the character and casted Idris Elba.

Of course overall better execution thanks to the better writing.

Felt more like Elba was actually playing a character while Will Smith was just playing himself.

That's Smith in most of his roles, tbh.

Not knocking him, he's talented obviously but he's in the same veign as people like the Rock or Schwarzenegger where you bring them onto project you're generally just gonna get a variant of their screen persona.

Suicide Squad: KTJL has fallen short of expectations (read: flopped)

Hopefully this compels WB to stop leaning on evil Superman as a crutch.

I think with Gunn driving DC forward, the focus will be on a more light hearted Superman. WB won’t have much say with DC studios being a separate entity. And Gunn is active on social media so he’s communicating with fans. It’s great that a ceo has a direct line with the DC community.

Speaking during a financial call, Warner Bros. Discovery Chief Financial Officer, Gunnar Wiedenfels, admitted Rocksteady’s game hadn’t done the business the company had hoped for since going on sale on February 2 priced $70, saying it had “fallen short of our expectations.”

Warner Bros. Discovery failed to mention a sales figure for Rocksteady’s game, but did say Suicide Squad’s failure had set up the company’s games business for a “tough” year-on-year comparison. Last year, Warner Bros. Discovery released Hogwarts Legacy, which went on to become the best-selling game of 2023.
You mean to say that with all the bad pre-release press the game was getting thanks to a lot of bad ideas and mediocre tech features, they were still "expecting" some sort of positive result? Funny how they put much window dressing in their messaging to say the game sold poorly.

Usually when a dev works on a bad game, they know it’s bad. I wonder how many Rocksteady devs brought up concerns with the story or the gameplay to the higher ups and were dismissed, or if they were totally surprised by how angry people were.

I'd like to see what their frame of mind was for the story, though it seems like only people who are into the concept and the main characters actually enjoyed it.

The game took 9 years to make so it was around the time that these two gems were in production/released:

So it gives you an idea of the “creative” vibe they were going for.
