Default JSA (1999-2006) Appreciation Thread 2023

JSA by James Robinson, David Goyer, and Geoff Johns was probably my last major regular comic I read. I loved it for most of its run.

Who else was waiting impatiently for this book to hit stores each month?

#1 book that got me to the store every month, and the first read in my stack when I got home!

I loved the pace of the book and the art by Sadowski and Bair.

The book was known for some great storylines but my favorite was The Hunt For Extant. JSA had every motivation to hunt this despot down. I loved the inclusion of Mordru, Dove, and that last page salute to the three fallen JSA members at the end.

What was your favorite JSA storyline?

Princes of Darkness was probably peak Goyer/Johns. The fights between Mordru and the JSA are still some of my favorites. And a ton of cameos and guest-stars including the then new Freedom Fighers.

More than anything else, I think it was this series that sedimented Johns status as a DC super-star writer. And it was really very good.

    Peace

Agree. I was unaware of Johns until this book. However, I did not care for some of the later issues he wrote or the Justice Society of America book that he did after this series.
