Haha “shut the $&@% up Lightray.” Nice reference to Tom King’s Mister Miracle.
That kind of took me out of it because it just feels like Taylor repeating stuff for the sake of repeating stuff. Like when he replicated the same exact scene of Orion beating up Scott.
Also just furthering the whole "nobody likes Lightray" thing like how everybody writes Orion as an unlikeable jerk now.
Scott and Barda have spent 6 issues looking for their son Jacob. If the kid really does kill Scott the instant they find him that’s just dumb.
An entertaining enough issue, but all the main beats seem to be derivative. Not just retreading same story beats (which long running comics do), but same story beats from comics within the past year. As others have pointed out, Dark Knights of Steel and DC vs Vampires have focused on elevating the same characters into very similar roles.
The Cyborg redemption arc was nice, but it relies entirely on Cyborg being smarter than Braniac, whose whole thing is being super smart. Doesn't seem very believable that Braniac did not think about Kandor when the majority of his appearances is related to Kandor.
The pacing of this story has been pretty bad. There were a number of issues where not much happened and it seemed like things were being dragged out. This issue was just overstuffed. Relatively important deaths happening in one panel and then Taylor moves on quickly to something else.
It was a pretty cool power feat for Cyborg to override Brainiac but still, it’s freaking Brainiac. He shouldn’t go down that easily.
When they were holding down Darkseid I was thinking why isn’t he using his Omega Beams or the freaking power ring that they’ve been hyping up. Maybe have GL Dinah make a restraining construct over his face so he can’t blast them? Something.
So yeah, a few slow issue and then too much happening that requires a lot of suspensions of disbelief.

Ngl kinda over this series
The constant narration that we now know to be from Alfred just feels so melodramatic
Why is this even still going on?
