Default Ever attended a PROTEST RALLY?

Last weekend there was an anti-transphobia rally in Melbourne, Australia. It turned into a big mess with dozens of neo nazis showing up, and a conservative MP losing her job for disagreeing with trans politics.

In 2010 I went to a counter rally there for a proposed anti-muslim protest. I had never been to one before and haven't since. The week before I got stood up on a vacation date in Singapore that was near a mosque and a guy lent me his phone to try and ring her. Touched by his kindness I felt I should give something back...

The gathering scared the racists off but it rally wasn't really my scene. It featured lousy rappers and speeches that drifted towards pro same-sex marriage and banning live sheep exports(?)

What rallies have you attended? Did you agree with EVERYTHING the speakers said?

Yes, several. Usually about threatened cuts in the social sector, homophobic musicians, or racists attacks. Once one about climate change.

    Maybe a dozen, mostly anti-war.

Certainly can’t remember any where I agreed with everything all the speakers said....typically a lot of the speakers tend to be more anti-government and anti-capitalism than I am.

    No never.

I’ve been on the receiving end of a few though.

That is cryptic. Could you elaborate?
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Some massive ones in New York and Washington. Mostly anti-war like JackDaw.

^^^Anti war protesters, trying to stop me and my Unit from performing funeral detail for deceased veterans, yelling all sorts of vile crap at us and the family we were there to honor, about how we were lackies and the deceased died a fool. Stuff like that.

I was in that situation once. I was federal delegate in the German Green party and we held a convention to vote on whether the party, then part of the coalition government, would continue to back NATO bombings against Serbia when that country was committing genocide in the Kosovo. There were some very rowdy Serb protesters outside, and some left wing, anti NATO guys inside. Infamously, foreign minister Joschka Fischer got his eardrum destroyed by a paint-filled balloon hurled at his head during the convention.

Yes, many. When I was a student at the University of Michigan, we would protest everything. As a reporter, I covered a lot of protests as well. Outside of that, the ones I've attended have mostly concerned racial injustice.

That is shitty. Misguided protest. It's not the soldiers who start a war. When I protested, it was to stop service people from dying for a wrongful war.

The first one against the war in Irak.
The second one against the attacks in Charlie Hebdo.
    And that’s all.

I went to a protest against China's treatment of the Ughars years ago (2019).

I supported the cause and I was invited to by my cousin whose is big at the local mosque.
