From the other thread, would you rather reread
(A) Byrne/Mackie run, including the Chapter One maxi series
(B) Slott’s Volume 3 and 4 on ASM
(C) Wells’ current run

hmm i dropped byrne after 1 issue (as in stopped reading entirely)
Slott had superior spiderman, which was incredibly stupid.
so by process of elimination i end up with the current run.. especially since i actually like him and felicia, (i just ignore everything to do with mj)
Lol at least cite me
They’re all pretty bad, but gun to my head I guess I’d have to go with the Wells run. After that, Mackie and Byrne. I just can’t reread Slott’s fan-fiction (although Wells’ run is approaching that point too). Mackie and Byrne would probably be my first choice if it didn’t include the poison pill of having to wade through the disrespectful dumpster fire that was Chapter One.
Definitely bottom 3 eras of all time imo.
(Some might say “what about BND?” but if you can ignore the worst retcon ever, there were some good stories like ‘Unscheduled Stop,’ ‘New Ways to Die’, the issue where Flash lost his legs, introduction of Mister Negative, Paper Doll, etc.)

I honestly considered Mackie’s run to be better than Slott’s run.
I am feeling responsable of creating this nefarious poll so I have to vote.
Order of less bad to worst:
1) Byrne/Mackie run. This was boring and bad but I could endure the run.
2) Slott run. This was so bad that I had to stop reading until SPencer took care of the book.
3) Wells run. This is like Slott book but more stupid. I had still have to read a single issue without stopping.
Byrne/Mackie run, including the Chapter One maxi series by a mile!
I dropped Slott (Vol. 3/Vol. 4) and Wells in real time. Both are horrible. Starting with the former, I detest Silk, Peter Stark didn't sit right and the only Slott Spider-Man story I liked from that period was the Renew Your Vows miniseries. Slott should have gone after Superior Spider-Man.
With Wells, you get a feckless Spider-Man getting his ass handed to him, working with Norman Osborn of all people and Chasm. Wells is giving Paul a bad name. I'm a Paul.
Tough choice between terrible runs but I'll go with Byrne/Mackie which I've read years later and I have more problems with the Slott/Wells runs.
I'd rather read my own obituary but if I had to choose then I guess Slott
The Byrne/Mackie era at least got the characters' voices right.
Slott at least had some cool novel ideas.
Wells can neither get the characters' voices right, nor does his run have any cool novel ideas. It's easily the worst run.
Voting Slott's vol 3\4, cause I never reread vol 4! Remember it being tons of fun: spotlights on OG Prowler, Cloak and Dagger, Zodiac. Weak spots are probs the RYV callback story and Clone Conspiracy, even then CC was great for the first half. Then you get the lovely Immonen stretch! Great stuff.
Wells' is a lot of fun, but we're right in the midst of it! What's there to reread :P
Voted for Slott. It's by far the weakest part of his run but there are still elements I enjoy, especially if we're technically counting the later issues where they went back to original numbering before Spencer's relaunch. There's cringe moments in there with CEO Peter but at least it's often entertaining cringe most of the time.
I bought the Next Chapter trades a few years ago and they've more or less sat on my shelf untouched ever since. Those books are painful to try and read through. What a waste of money that was.
Unless things turn around dramatically I think Well's run is going to be the first one that I outright skip in my collection entirely.
