Yes - I think Audiences Are Finally Getting Tired Of These Movies
No - This has been wildly exaggerated
Too Early To Say Either Way
One should say cinematic superhero universes to not sound that inflammatory, which means DC and Marvel, those are what this is really about and almost the only sprawling universes that can be sold theatrically in Hollywood. Other comic book properties, or movie franchises in general, are more than fine just being popular movies or series because cinematic universes are overrated to Hollywood's potential as a whole, the only other one that has worked is The Conjuring, which is 8-9 movies long so far between main Conjuring entries and spin-offs, and all of them have been hits with no exception.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem did more in North America than the previous Out of the Shadows TMNT movie. Not so much worldwide, but Mayhem cost like half as much and there'll be a sequel for it last I heard.

Based on the popular Chic Young comic strip, there were 28 Blondie movies, between 1938 and 1950--starring Penny Singleton and Arthur Lake.
Martin Scorsese was born in 1942 and, upon seeing one of these Blondie movies as a baby, his first words were "it's not cinema."
Deleted a few posts.
Let's all try to be a bit more racially sensitive in future postings.
Also, let's stay on topic - comic book movie fatigue, not the casting of the new Snow White movie.
I accepted earlier this year that the DCEU was dead and that the films that were coming out this year weren't going to be successful. I did not see the Flash, Blue Beetle in the theatre and will probably not see Aquaman. I mean Blue Beetle is the worst performing DCEU film too. I mean you can also throw the end of the CW shows in too. WB is rebooting their movies though, will it be successful though? I don't know, we'll see.
If you want to know why the MCU seems to be the focus of this conversation, well, it's mostly MCU fans that deny its existence.

Comic movies are more than heroes. As someone said blondie had a bunch of films. Snuffy smith had two live action figures. Flash gordom and buck rogers had a film, dick tracy had at least 4 films, Tarzan and zorro has had tons of films. They are pulp heroes. Men in black has 4 films, a cartoon and theme park ride. stardust is a comic film, Coraline is a comic film and did really well in its rerelease this year. Dennis the menace had a film. Snoopy had 5 theatre films. Ducktales the movie is a comic film. Heavy metal films are comics. Road to perdition is comics. Edge of Tomorrow was loved but bombed. It's manga!
Then there is manga. Many manga based films. They do great in many countries. They are comics. One piece red broke records overseas. Detective conan does incredible in many parts of the world. In japan conan beat both avengers iw and endgame! Conan has over 24 films! Lupin is loved. Slam dunk made a fool out of avatar 2 in japan and was huge in china! Doraemon is loved everywhere but america with tons of films and merch. Spy family movie is expected to do great. Demon slayer beat mortal kombat and hit first in america during the virus. It did even better overseas. One of the highest films of that year worldwide!
Dragonball z does good also. These are comic book films! People "forget" about them when they talk about comic films dying.

The biggest movies of the year are Barbie, Super Mario Brothers and Oppenheimer.
The biggest surprise hit is Five Nights at Freddies.
Meanwhile, the Last of Us got more acclaim than any superhero spinoff show.
I think comics movies can easily recover, but the last year has been below-average for the medium, especially in the context of the last 20 years.

Think about what you are saying. Because a Superhero movie failed to dominate the B.O. one year out of the last 20 they are in need of recovery. What is the expectation here? That superhero movies will dominate for all time and if they don’t they have failed?
The options seem to be either you are a Billion dollar success every year or you have failed. Can’t there be a middle ground where these movies are successful but don’t need to dominate every year like clockwork. They seem to be a victim of their own success.
Same thing happened to westerns. Until the 1960s, every other movie and every other tv show was a western. But that changed in the 60s and 70s. Now we get a western every now and then, like News of the World, or 1883, but they're usually very good. We no longer get the fair to average B-western. I have a feeling the same thing will happen with superhero movies.
Watching television is not an activity.
Pretty much any action movie nowadays may as well be considered a superhero film even if it doesn't have any superheroes in it since most of the main characters tend to behave and do the same stuff that superheroes do. If a "superhero movie" is about a guy who have super powers, you can make an argument that Fast and Furious movies are superhero movies too with the feats pulled off in those movies. Even Mission Impossible and John Wick could be considered unofficial superhero movies, given how superhuman Ethan Hunt and John Wick seem to be.
Right now, The Marvels is looking to have the worse debut of any MCU movie. It's likely to do worse than the Flash (at least in terms of opening weekend.)

I think the answer to this thread is yes. We can move on now.
Fatigue or are they just not relevant and pop culture enough anymore? Or is that the same thing?
