After Heroes In Crisis, I was pretty much done with Tom King. However, I don't know how much of it was King or if it was Dan Didio pulling the strings on that one.
But CBR has a list of 10 characters they feel Tom King should write for (in addition to his current Wonder Woman series).

I could see some potential with Amanda Waller and Animal Man. The other ideas I have no great desire to see, but I will almost always read a King 12 issue series.
The Wall has the spycraft intelligence going on and King does know that from a real life POV. Maybe less world saving and more personal of a tale here.
As for Buddy, many of King's 12 issue series (Vision, Mr Miracle, Strange Adventures) have had a hero and his significant other. A focus on Buddy and Ellen would fit in with King's usual formula.
That being said, Tom King does not do average stuff. He hits game winning Grand Slam homers or he pops fouls that break your car's windshield before he strikes out swinging wildly.I’ll don the mask and wear the cape

But yeah of the ten characters CBR listed, I wouldn’t want him near any of them barring Deadman/Swamp Thing who are usually off in their own little worlds.

You can argue that's the same case with Swamp Thing, but Swampy's relationship with Abby is arguably the most compelling romance ever in comics and I know Tom King will predictably depict them as toxic and abusive.

Once you've done that, you just let him write any "Wildstorm..." IP that he wants to.

He gets to write. He doesn't get to write characters most DC Comics fans care about.
