    Default Marvel Art of 2014

So, if you were putting together an art book showcasing the best from Marvel this year, what books/arcs/etc would you feature? Bonus if pointing out specific issues and pages.

    1. All-New X-Men - Immonen
    2. Trial of Jean Grey (ANXM / Guardians crossover ) - Immonen & Pichelli
    3. Infinity - Jerome Opena
    4. Legendary Starlord - Paco Medina
    5. Avengers Arena / Undercover - Kev Walker
    6. Deadpool vs. X-Force - Pepe Larraz
    7. Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man - David Marquez
    8. Elektra - Mike Del Mundo
    9. Black Widow - Phil Noto
    10. Cyclops - Russell Dauterman

My major disappointment this year was Joe Mad on Inhumans. I feel the coloring threw everything off. The pencils themselves were amazing. Very similar the issues I have with Bachalo and his work on UXM, only difference being that Bachalo does his own coloring.

The biggest surprise was Deadpool vs. X-Force. Everything just clicked. It's right up there with Immonen and Pichelli who are two of my favorites artists.

I haven't read all the comics you mentioned, but I agree with Immonen, Pichelli, del Mundo and Noto. Larraz did gorgeously clean, bright and animated work on Deadpool and X-Force, I agree.

The big omission for me on your list was Esad Ribic, whose art on Thor, God of Thunder has been extraordinary. Beautiful to look at, very expressive, easy to follow and full of character. Great high fantasy art. The colourist Dean White has done a wonderful job too. It's hard to pick just one scene, but I do like his dragon.

I don't read Thor, but I've heard good things Ribic's work.

I'm disappointed that a lot of the good artists from X-books are being moved to other titles (Immonen and Dauterman). ANXM won't be the same w/o Immonen IMO. Asrar is a good artist no doubt, but I feel Immonen did an amazing job capturing the youthful essences of the time traveling O5. He, Gracia and Von Grawbadger are the best art team in comics.

I'd like to see Sana Takeda come back on a X-book as well. Her run on X-23 had a very whimsical feel that I loved.

WE FANS HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY BLESSED WITH THE GORGEOUS ART MARVEL IS PUBLISHING EACH AND EVERY MONTH. I PERSONALLY BELIEVE IT IS STRONGER NOW THAN IT HAS BEEN IN DECADES, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM. HAVING TO LIMIT TO ONLY TEN AND CERTAINLY LEAVING DESERVING CREATORS OFF, I AM GOING WITH:

    Davis Aja - Hawkeye
Tradd Moore - All-New Ghost Rider
    Mike Allred - Silver Surfer
    Russell Daiterman - Cyclops
    Phil Noto - Black Widow
    Mike del Mundo - Elektra
Steve McNiven - Death of Wolverine
    Esad Ribic - Thor
    Declan Shalvey - Moon Knight
    Skottie Young - Rocket Racoon

Best image from 2014; from one of the most critically acclaimed series of the previous year. And "art of 2014" MUST have a page that includes this incredible (yet simple and perfectly fitting) image.

I agree. Marvel has done a great job giving everyone something to lust after - so to speak. Many of the titles you mentioned are also books I read - specifically Rocket Raccoon and All-New Ghost Rider.

Also just read that Pepe Larraz, a recent addition to my favorite artist list*, is hopping on Inhumans for an arc!

    * - Immonen, Pichelli, Takeda, Mad, Opena, Finch, Lee, and now Larraz.

Schiti on New Avengers and Shalvey on Moon Knight, along with Ribic were damn great as well.

I agree with pretty much all the artists mentioned. I also loved Matteo Buffagni's work on Avengers Assemble. He has a somewhat cartoony style that reminds me of some of Immonem's work. I think it worked really well for the Spider-Girl arc. He'd be a great fit for a book with a younger cast.

    100%

I just wish a lot of the books would stop rotating so much. When Marvel NOW kicked off the "teams" were announced for the "long haul." Not just the writers. But in addition to most suggestions posted, I would add Carmine di Giandomenico's All-New X-Factor work.

Ironic name for someone so awesome. And I agree that Shalvey became a superstar with Moon Knight.

Gonna resurrect this thread 'cause it's a good one and need to add my two cents!

    In no particular order:
    - Steve McNiven, Death of Wolverine
    - Declan Shalvey, Moon Knight
    - Mike Deodato, Original Sin
    - Esad Ribic, Thor: God of Thunder
    - Jamie McKelvie, Young Avengers

And I anticipate Olivier Coipel will make this list come Spider-Verse. And I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

Agreed, Marvel's art overall is the best it's been in years, stronger than ever.

There are many great artists out now, but Marco Rudy is so far ahead of most of them that I don't feel the need to list a dozen. Del Mundo is super close, though.

    2. Kaare Andrews
    3. Adrian Alphona
    4. The Allreds
    5. Shalvey/Bellaire
