Post Does Arrowverse cares more about the original characters?

Based on the show's history and the adaption of each DC arrowverse show, there is always going to have original characters appearing throughout the season. But there is an issue when this happens:

    - Arrow show seems to love Felicity so much by the showrunner that Marc wants to get rid of Laurel Lance so that Oliver and Felicity could be together as a couple. A slap to the green arrow fans who want to see the 'OliverxLaurel' a thing.

    - The Flash where Barry Allen normally could solve the crime with the help of his friends or defeat his enemy by himself. But lately, he too depends on Team Flash to solve it. And now supporting characters can get power-upgrade so easily.

    - DC' Legends of Tomorrow used to consist of C-Listed Superheroes like Atom, Firestorm, Rip Hunter and Heatwave running the team. But as the season goes on, more established heroes are leaving the time stream and more new original characters are flowing in until you can't tell if this show is DC Comics series or just a normal Time-Travel adventure with random people.

Honestly, I don't know about this but yes, some have existed before in the comics but some of them are a duplicate of the original characters just the title name is the same (Ex: Dinah Lance, Kelly Olsen)

Felicity was a one-off character from the comics... which is how I prefer a tv show to work in an "original character." Don't care for how Arrow disregarded so much of GA's history.

I agree with LoT; at a certain point, they went out of their way to focus on OCs or rename established characters. The Tomaz siblings for one, hated they just didn't call Amoz, Amoz instead of Bernard.

As for Team Flash etc., they kind of need a bigger supporting cast to fill the time limit. Could it be better handled? Yeah sure but that's to be expected.

I think Felicity got pushed because they liked the chemistry between her and Oliver's actors. She was only meant to be a guest star (in the comics she's a minor character from Firestorm, so she isn't an OC), but of course ended up becoming his wife, displacing Black Canary, who got killed off and replaced by a villainous AU counterpart. They ended up giving her Barbara Gordon and Wendy Harris's comic book storylines - Barbara's paralysis and spinal implant, and her role as the computer person, they even noted Oracle was taken, implying Babs exists, when she was named Overwatch - and Wendy's relationship to the villain Calculator which originates from the Steph Brown Batgirl comic - as there was literally no native source material to use for Felicity.

True about Flash. He never worked with Vibe and Killer Frost in the comics. They're both members of the Justice League, but not on the same team as each other or Barry. Harrison Wells, Allegra Garcia, and Cecile Horton are all OCs. Chester P Runk is a friend of Wally's in the comics, never Barry's. The only members of Team Flash who are legitimately there in the comics are Jay Garrick, Kid Flash, Jesse Quick, and Impulse. Not even XS, as she's usually a member of the Legion of Superheroes.

Legends started with the guys you mention plus Hawkman, Hawkgirl, and White Canary - the latter of whom is another OC. She ended up the only one still there at the end from the initial lineup - though Zari and Behrad were based on Isis and Osiris from the comics (didn't use codenames due to the ISIS terrorist group, and also had their civilian names changed due to the original ones not sounding Muslim). Constantine would've been there too, but they were screwed over by plans elsewhere for the character. Matt Ryan was still under contract so they had to create a new character for him to play. That character being yet another OC. One of final additions, Astra, is from his comics though.

There was indeed two Dinah Lances... but that's also the case in the comics. Dinah Drake Lance is the mother of Dinah Laurel Lance. They split both characters in two though. After Laurel was killed off, a new Dinah Drake was introduced to take over as Black Canary. In the comics, Dinah Drake Lance was the previous Black Canary. White Canary, Laurel's sister, serves that role instead. Comics Dinah is an only child.

Kelly Olsen isn't a duplicate character, though she is indeed an OC as Jimmy has no sister in the comics.

Of course Batwoman pushed the OC most of all the shows, Ryan Wilder didn't exist in the comics when she replaced Kate Kane as Batwoman in the show due to Ruby Rose quitting the role. Even now Ryan in the comics has only had a cameo in Batgirl as a civilian.

Most of these guys are actually from the comic. They are not original characters.

The Arrow show even retconned John Diggle into being an alternate take on John Stewart even though he was originally a separate character.

I think the only OC to actually become popular, was Sarah Lance. Could've been introduced in the comics as a cousin or something. Though, the whole being trained by R'as al'Ghoul and what not does bring up some issues.

Actually, Allegra is a very minor character from comic, she only appeared on 2 or 3 issues from Teen Titans before Flashpoint.

And who was her creator? Eric Wallace the same guy who became The Flash showrunner on S6, the same season where Allegra was introduced chan chan chan.

I'd rather them use smaller characters with smaller histories or make up their own character than drastically alter longstanding ones. Never really had an issue with casting or characters on the CW shows.

The writing on them, though? That's another story sometimes....

Cecile Horton was Barry's attorney during the original Trial of the Flash, but she kind of became an OC when she married Iris's dad and got superpowers.

There must've been some serious Firestorm fans in the CW writers rooms, between Killer Frost joining Flash's team, Felicity Smoak joining Green Arrow's team, and Martin Stein joining the Legends

Going to point to Smallville the precursor to the Arrowverse which avoided the issues of the Arrowverse.

When the show started it had 3 OC characters Chloe Sullivan, Lionel Luthor, & Whitney Fordman (Who was a foil for Clark with Lana and eventually written off). But Lionel and Chloe were with the show the longest than any other characters outside of Clark. Lana, Lex, the Kents, Pete Ross all gone eventually replaced by Lois, Jimmy, Oliver, Tess, Etc and it worked because the focused always stayed on Clark. The cast could change as long as Clark was the focus.

In the Arrowverse it always felt like at some point in the show you could literally replace the lead and the show would be fine and that was the issue. Arrow because about Olicity and Team Arrow, Flash about Team Flash, Supergirl the DEO and if Oliver, Barry, or Kara died or left their shoes would be easily filled. The only shows to avoid this is Superman and Lois and Black Lightning IMO.

Legends for me issue was they took an interesting concept heroes time doesn't remember but have the potential to basically become Legends. This happened not long after Stein died, and they just kept embracing the cringe factor of their show and focusing on secondary character with no powers to save on budget.

Though Caitlin Snow isn't the Killer Frost from Firestorm. She's from New 52 Justice League of America.
