If I had to fill in the blanks, he'd be a character introduced during a time we've skipped in the Spider-Man comics (IE- the few months after Civil War before One More Day.) It could make sense to connect him to the time jump with the Wells run.

The lil boy? That’d be cool. All up in the feels. Be like bring back a single throw away character from an old issue, but at the same time, it kinda makes sense?
    That would be really cool.

Oh, a good point so there is something else definitely going on with time.

If not a human child, how about an android?

His backpack does look more like a device.

    Android would be sick!

Or not heterosexual. I know he's just a kid, but he could be trans. Could Bailey actually have been born a girl? The name is unisex.

Not sure, if we can take that statement as a hint of anything, but based on the tweet Dan was responding to, I think he simply meant that the character is a pre-teen, and generally 8-12 years old have no problem with referring to themself as boys whereas a 15-year-old, the age when Peter gets his powers are more likely to call themself a man because they would see the word boy as word childish and lacking in authority.

With it's age, probably debutted after Miles in chronologie.

Girl with boy pronouns? One of the Citizen V's was a woman dressed as a man at the start.

True, after Zemo was outed and stopped using the identity, Dallas Riordan, the government liaison to the Thunderbolts and Atlas's girlfriend, took the mantle. And she used the exact same costume Zemo did.

Note he used themself instead himself. He might have slipped up there!

I think it's more that a ten year old kid would be comfortable calling himself Spider-boy (or Superboy for that matter) than a high school sophomore.

A character who's allegorically trans through a sci-fi or fantasy gimmick isn't the same as a character who actually is trans. Same for any other minority group.

[looks at the current state of LGBT rights worldwide] Hell yes, that would be awesome.
harryosborn.net -Me rereading every single comic that has Harry Osborn in it, and also writing some articles.

Of course not. I did say "in a sense". But that doesn't mean allegory is worthless.
