Default Dark X-Men by Steve Foxe and Jonas Scharf

Since 2019’s revolutionary HOUSE OF X and POWERS OF X series, mutantkind has experienced unparalleled growth and prosperity on the island nation Krakoa—but can it really last forever?

Following July’s X-MEN: HELLFIRE GALA #1, mutantkind will enter a thrilling new era of uncertainty, danger, and mystery known as FALL OF X! As the X-Men struggle to pull themselves together after their shattering defeat, Madelyne Pryor takes charge with her own twisted team in DARK X-MEN!

Written by Steve Foxe (X-MEN ANNUAL) and drawn by Jonas Scharf (AVENGERS OF THE WASTELANDS), DARK X-MEN will star a squad of X-Men unlike any other you’ve seen before: Madelyne Pryor, Havok, Archangel, Gambit, Azazel, Zero, Albert, and Emplate. This deadly group will band together to fill the void left by the X-Men, and are seemingly the perfect team to combat the harsh conditions of FALL OF X. Their hearts are in the right place but under the unpredictable leadership of the Goblin Queen and operating out of New York’s new Limbo Embassy, will this team’s dark ways turn the tide for mutantkind or make things far worse?

Following the explosive events of the Hellfire Gala, Madelyne Pryor realizes the world needs the X-Men now more than ever. Havok, Archangel, and Gambit have served on teams before…but never one that looks like this! And how does Gimmick, breakout star of CHILDREN OF THE ATOM and 2023’s MARVEL’S VOICES: PRIDE, fall under the Goblin Queen’s sway? Find out in the most horrific installment of the X-Men saga yet!

"Picking up Madelyne Pryor’s journey is a WILD and terrifying honor," Foxe shared. "Maddie is coming into DARK X-MEN with a sense of autonomy she’s rarely had over her life—but she’s doing so during the FALL OF X. I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say things aren’t happy-go-lucky for anyone in the mutant orbit right now, and that includes tempestuous redheads who’ve plopped a giant demon castle right off of Central Park."

"I’m excited for readers to find out how this unlikely cast got summoned under one roof—the ones at Maddie’s side by choice, the ones stuck in Limbo by circumstances out of their control, and the ones who don’t make it out of the first issue alive—and to watch Jonas Scharf unleash a whole new brand of gothic horror-action on the Marvel Universe," he added. "This is X-Men by way of Evil Dead and we’re not leaving until we burn the whole place to the ground."

Jean Grey in the words of Walt Whitman, from his masterpiece Leaves of Grass, "Song of Myself" (51 and 52):

"Do I contradict myself? Very well then I contradict myself, (I am large, I contain multitudes.)"

"Failing to fetch me at first keep encouraged, Missing me one place search another, I stop somewhere waiting for you."

This is a very strange team... Phillips writing Gambit like that last issue, maybe was foreshadowing for this

Also from what is being said in these various previews, it seems like the X-Men do take a big hit post Fall of X if Madelyne Pryor feels the need to fill that void for mutantkind.

This is a WILD lineup. Noticeable lack of women outside of Maddy and Gimmick. Hoping Azazel and Albert are "the ones who don’t make it out of the first issue alive". Nice to see Warren and Emplate getting some use, and Kenji is a fun surprise. Overall I'm excited to see what Foxe can do on his own book.

This is reminding me of the old days of X-book shakeups and while I should know better I am actually more excited seeing this than just about anything since HoXPoX teasers.

Damn, I hoped we’d never see Azazel again.

Wow ! That is NOT expected. FUCKING ALBERT ???

I am VERY VERY interested in Emplate's inclusion. I cannot wait to see what they do with him.
Foxe looks like a fun writer. Let's hope this is on par with Wells's Hellions.

Jonas Scharf's art looks VERY well suited for this book too.

Usually I'm really disappointed by a lack of women in an X-book, but given Maddy's recent characterization, I think it makes a lot of sense that she would just surround herself with men in the team she leads.

I think this has got to be one of the most eclectic teams I have seen in a while.

Sorry for anyone expecting they'd write off Azazel and pretend he never existed .

"Void left by the X-Men?" But the main book is still running. Does Orchis make them go underground and that's why Kitty becomes a ninja?

I don't feel like Maddie deserves to run her own X-Team and be the public face of a new Superhero team after Dark Web, but I'd love to see it all blow up in her face. I'm kind of worried about Alex because his track record on teams and around Maddie hasn't been that great.

Will this team treat Gambit better than his own book with Rogue does? Will we see this team and Rogue's Unity Squad team-up?

I keep forgetting if Warren can rotate back and forth between Angel and Archangel. He doesn't have any personality issues any more, does he?

Watch it turn into Maddie's personal Reverse Harem book (even if Gambit is married).

It's giving Siege Perilous 2.0, the X-Men are missing and/or dead realness.

Though considering X-Men by Duggan continues, I am

Emplate, Azazel, Madelyne and Kenji is the clash of personalities I didn't know I needed. I actually hope all four of them are present for the long run, because there are some egos that are bound to cause DRAMA between them!

Reeeeally curious to see how Gimmick ties into all of this, but she was the highlight of Children of the Atom for me and I've been hoping to see her in an X-book ever since.

I'm not sure if they're dead or missing or just forced to go underground. Like maybe that's why Kitty is a ninja because they need to be stealthy to fight Orchis because of what is revealed to the public.

We also have Mutants or X-Men on the Unity Squad and it seems like part of that is to repair their public image as well.

VERY excited for this, even though a X-Book without at least 3 female characters usually frustrates me.

And there are so many great shady women in the X-Mythos.

    But I'm in! Really curious.
