Too many 80's NES games (and often also their ports or arcade originals as well) simply had a badly translated "Congratulations" message of some sort.

Ghostbusters and Ikari Wariors for example.

Yeah, the Japanese version of Bad Dudes got the better reward ( a statue in their honor).

Wow. Didn't know that. Ronnie had better know a damn good burger joint...

How about Outrun endings? One has the driver rub a magic lamp and gets a harem of women. Another, his female co-driver gets the trophy from another woman, implying possible "L word" action...

Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. For finding all of the Koroks and korok seeds. The guy gives you a piece of poo. Which I could understand as a pointless endeavor, except for the fact that finding the Korok guys is a part of 100% completion in the game.

    This was a worst reward.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
