It's like watching an Iron Man film and he gets his powers from a radioactive artifact. It completely changes a critical part of the character.

Also the villains were some of the weakest of any Disney+ Marvel show (which is saying something).

The average pre Endgame was $150M. Looks like MoM was about $150M, too.

Do people know what $100 million in marketing looks like or are folks just throwing out numbers? It sounds like the latter. Marvels did have some bad marketing luck with the McDonald’s Happy Meal stuff happening in July because of the release date move.

Marvel is on a remarkable post-pandemic streak of six movies opening over $100-million domestically (seven if you count ATSV). I wonder if this can keep that going. Seems impossible to sustain, but it’s a cool streak.

Even the 130 figure looks to be an asspull. The Vanity Fair article doesn't cite that number. All it mentions regarding the budget is that it's more than A Wrinkle in Time, referencing that The Marvels will be the highest budget film helmed by a black woman (DaCosta).

Any search involved in that exact figure (130 million) just ultimately references back to the VF article. I can't find a direct quote from DaCosta anywhere.
