In a lot of ways the WWF Attitude Era was a toned down ECW . Where as ECW had bloody hardcore violence most shows , the WWF made an effort to hold that insane bloody violence down. Also the violence involving men vs women was kept to May Young eating tables in 2000 by the Dudleyz. In ECW women would bloody and beat up the men in a match (like for instance Beluah vs Fonzie) .

Paul would never tone down the product and believed it would sell out what Extreme Championship Wrestling was all about. Or as Shane Douglas would say in a classic ECW promo , "Ass kicking , take no prisoners ...this is what ECW is all about !" Its sad and yes had Paul toned the product down to what the WWF had , he'd likely be in business today as a #2 to Vince. But I give Paul props , he sold a vision and even 20+ years later people still chant ECW at shows.

Sadly it seems Awesome Kong's 2nd run in TNA is gonna end and its likely due to Kong's actions this time. Due to an incident backstage where reports are claiming she took a run at Matt Hardy's wife or grabbed her by the throat to throw her outta the Knockouts locker room.
