Ooh, that had some fun stuff, but for 'music by Queen,' I'd have to go with Highlander! "Here we are, born to be kings..."
And the mention of Saturday Night Fever upthread made me remember Xanadu, which was so much a product of it's time, but hey, Olivia Newton-John!
Didn't know this until I actually saw a vinyl copy of the soundtrack once I was older...
One side is Electric Light Orchestra/One side is Olivia Newton-John.
Except for the tune "Xanadu" It is Olivia Newton-John singing on a tune Electric Light Orchestra did the music for. That totally should have been a thing outside of that one tune.
The only thing I remember from the Flash Gordon soundtrack is the opening of the theme … “Flash! Ah ah! (Something) of the universe!” … and now it’s stuck in my head. Argh.
I had a lot of soundtracks in the 80’s, but there were very few I’d listen to as an album over and over or held together as a story vs a random compilation. Maybe because I’ve never really been into instrumentals, certainly none that I wanted to listen to over and over and over until the record or tape wore out.
It wasn't a children's cartoon but it was animated. Heavy Metal from 1981.
Film: Digimon the Movie and Treasure Planet.
Show: Digimon Season 2 (specifically the English dub), WITCH and RWBY.
1996 Space Jam soundtrack was amazing.
Lots of great music on that one, Blue Oyster Cult and Sammy Hagar being my favorites, as I recall.
Ooh, I forgot that ELO was also on Xanadu, along with OLJ. ELO's 'Time' was the first cassette tape I actually bought in the store. I was a quirky child.
