Even though its the same costume just with different colors, I love how dapper this guy looks.

Red and black are a classic combination for a reason after all.

That's a very snazzy get-up right there. This book is really great so far. I have the Sandman Mystery Theatre compendium one on my shelf and I'm looking forward to reading it now that I have more time on my hands.

I wonder what their name will be. "Sandman" is because he puts people to sleep. This baddie presumably has gases that do more than that. So... "Beware ... the GAS-man!" ...

Well, he was included early on in Geoff Johns' original run of JSA.

Another "dark mirror" version of the main character as a villain? I think DC has gone to the well too many times on that idea, to be honest.

That's always been an archetype for an arch-enemy - every good hero has one. It's just more on the nose with these new ones visually resembling the heroes a lot more. I don't see anything wrong with going to that well since the story and characteristics of each of these villains depends on the hero and should be as varied and distinct as each hero is.

I've seen a lot of complaints about Rossmo's art, but can we admit that cover is just fantastic? It catches the eye, and makes you wonder what the story is. AND it's beautiful.

"The Fog" is clever - Fog of war and all that... I guess Sandman did need an ach-enemy. (was there one before?)

Funny how we’re getting the retcon archenemies of the three miniseries JSA members now.
    Dr Elemental for Jay.
Golden Age Red Lantern for Alan.
And the Fog for Wesley Dodds.

    Maybe not.

I think the 'arch-enemy' concept evolved in comics over time.

But...Sandman did have enemies and they should be revived and reimagined/reinvented.
