How Trinity Fits Into Wonder Woman's World

While Trinity will appear as a young adult in the Wonder Woman #800 story, that doesn't mean Diana has been hiding the existence of her daughter for the past several decades. King tells IGN that this story is set roughly 20 years after the events of Wonder Woman #1. In the present-day DCU, Trinity hasn't been born yet, and the monthly series will trace her origins and how she grows into the heroine seen in Wonder Woman #800. She'll continue to play an important role in the series even as it flashes back to the present.

"I think it's safe to say we'll see more of that future as we move forward with the story in Wonder Woman, which centers around how that future came to be," King says. "But it's important to add that the main focus of Wonder Woman the book will be Wonder Woman the hero. The point of every issue and every arc of our story is to show the readers how awesome Diana Prince is, how relevant she is to today's world, and how kick ass her powers are personality are. Trinity is part of that story, but there's a lot more than just Trinity coming. A LOT more..."

DC fans are probably wondering about the identity of Trinity's father. Is she the daughter of Steve Trevor? Is her hair color a clue? King is remaining mum on when fans will learn the answer to that key mystery, but that in itself suggests a big reveal during the course of the monthly series.

Lizzie has reddish hair, so she is obviously the daughter of Diana and Artemis.

Someone on Twitter said Trinity could be her name because of the 3 lassos.

Maybe no father at all? Circe or Artemis as another mother?

I'm torn. I hate that DC is creating so many legacy characters, especially when so many are not being used (cough, cough, LYTA). But I do like the design, unlike some. I think its cute. I can't tell is she's blonde or has light brown hair. I hope its brown. there aren't many brown haired super-heroines besides Mary Marvel.
I guessing Trinity is for the three lassoes. I wonder if the white one is Donna's. But I mainly can't wait to see what a black lasso can do. I know some people hate the rainbow power stuff DC does, starting with the GL mythos, but I like it. That's the only thing I was Cassie kept from the New 52: her red lasso (minus the barb wire mess).

Its a Wait And See for me.

"Diana should sculpt her from clay" [with possible bonus for reference to the feminist symbolism of doing so]

"She's going to be overexposed / she'll be completely forgotten in a few years anyway"

"I don't trust King to write a young girl because..."

"She better not be stronger than Diana"

"King should be prioritising the existing cast not creating new characters"
    Haha! Too funny…

I’m here for the idea. Will wait for the execution before I give it a yay or nay.

I like the costume…for the most part. It’s a tad busy. I would have put the white stripes on the sides of the boots to connect with the stripes on the sides of the leggings. The knee armor…ehh?

Also, I get the marketing value, but I kinda wish they’d kept this a secret so I could’ve been surprised. They take all the joy of discovery out of comics nowadays.
“You see…the rest of them are soldiers. But [Wonder Woman] is an artist.”

I only support the made of clay origin.

I think what really grates on me about this is it's just another symptom of comic books' (particularly DC) unhealthy fixation of completion, symmetry, and The Image over actual organic storytelling.

People love the idea of Diana having a kid just because Superman & Batman have kids. They love the Image of the Trinity's children standing next to each other. Now it's "complete."

Same reason certain people love the idea of Superman & Wonder Woman being a couple. Because it "makes sense." Because it makes a pretty picture. Never-mind that their relationship is boring AF and they have the chemistry of salt water & oil.

It's why people love the idea of the Justice League even though 90% of League stories are trash. Even the JL stuff generally agreed to be good has glaring blind spots.
But it doesn't matter because people love the idea of the "big guns" teaming up. They love the Image of these characters standing next to each other...even if half of them contribute nothing to the story and/or are written like crap.

So now Wonder Woman is going to saddled with a brat because the other Trinity bros have brats, too. And DC's marketing is going to trumpet the three of them together all over the place because now the Image is complete...even if not one single worth-while story comes of it.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, and I probable will continue to beat this drum until my dying day: Wonder Woman gains nothing of value existing in a shared universe. The direction of her world & character should not be dictated by what the other characters in the universe she's shackled to are doing. She'd be better off on her own & lose very little.

My worry in giving Lizzie a clay origin is that it gives DC license to say "See? Now we don't need to give Diana a clay origin".

I can't tell if that's her actual hair color, or just excessive shading from the sun. Maybe it's intentionally vague? If she were clearly, unarguably blonde, then that's a huge hint that Steve's involved.

Whatever King does with Lizzie (and knowing the inspiration behind the name I'm now liking it more) I worry and wonder what he'll do with Steve. I haven't been reading WW lately (should I have been?) so I dunno what Diana and Steve are doing right now, but I hope this "20 years in the future" stuff doesn't show us a future where Steve and Diana fell out (again). Hopefully they're together and happy. Diana deserves that.

The red hair is funny, cause literally half of Diana's Rogues Gallery could be the second mom. I'm betting on either Cheetah or Artemis.
