Nubia may have been the first black female hero, but can we call her a 'major' one? Didn't she only appear a handful of times before falling into limbo? I wasn't even alive in the 70's but I feel like Nubia was never more than a trivia question until the last couple years when DC finally decided to capitalize on her.

Glad she's getting some attention and development either way.

She was actually kind of a big deal to Black kids outside of comics and there was even a Nubia doll back in the day. But she was a much bigger deal to us than she was ever shown to be in the comics.

I can't explain the middle name in universe, but maybe it doesn't need an in-universe explanation and can only work as meta. Although, Olive Elizabeth Prince might have made more sense (Olive as a tribute to Athena and to Marston's other partner).

And I imagine she must be that good in order to become JL leader at 19.
