Krakoa disobeyed the Council and let Nature Girl go, showing that it can make decisions based on its own morals. It also longed for Arakko, but could tell that they grew too far apart to ever be fully reunited - which is a concept an animal might understand, but is still kinda deep imo.

Every mutant that has been resurrected has a "lil bit of Sinister" in them now, right? Or was that just the ones he could get his mittens on personally?

It could be your out to explain any character that is acting a little off.

Weather Krakoa is good or bad for mutants depends completely on where the creative leads decide they want it to go. If they feel the most appealing conflict is everyone at each others' throats and the island failing, that's what we'll be getting. If not, it could stick around and other sources of drama will be utilized. Personally, I hope it stays and is just where most mutants live. X-Books going forward could just focus on teams that happen to be in the field, space in human cities etc.

No, the only mutants with Sinister modifications are the ones resurrected after Hope was killed. Hope was subconsciously removing the mods before that.

Fortunately, Marvel has plenty of other options if they want to 'splain' characters acting differently.

    1) Chuck's got a history of *unconsciously* psychically influencing people, at times. (As he did in the microverse, long ago.)

    2) Onslaught was messing with people's minds, particularly those resurrected, and even encouraging them to die and be resurrected even more.

    3) That Russian Chronicler dude has been messing with folk, most obviously Colossus, but more subtly, Beast, and perhaps quite a few more.

    4) Krakoa itself may be psychically influencing mutants on the island to be more accepting and more likely to stay and provide it the all-you-can-eat psychic buffet, through the constant low-level psychic connection it shares with the entire mutant population. This process doesn't even have to be conscious. It's own happy vibes to be covered with yummy treats and all full and sated and content might just be being subconsciously shared with the islands residents.

    5) Selene and Emplate are both plugged into Krakoa's psychic connection / feed with the mutant population of the island. Either of them could tinker with that psychic connection to cause people living on the island to act 'out of character' in accordance to their less-than-nice standards.

    6) Empath is one of several mutants who can personally mess with other people's behavior.

And no one 'explanation' needs to be used for everyone. The Chronicler might *only* be messing with Colossus and Beast, and any one else deemed to have 'acted out of character' for where the story is headed next could be 'explained away' by one of the other five options, or one of many I hadn't even listed or thought of (like lingering effects from the departed Shadow King, suggestions planted like psychic 'land mines' left behind to go off and plague people possibly months or years later, or Malice up to shenanigans, because gaining a new body didn't necessarily make her a new person...).

Don't forget about Charles Xavier, he makes a lot of questionable decisions of late, the 'Sin of Sinister', 'Sabretooth's dark Truth' and 'Beast running rogue'.

Like in a meta way or in universe? Because im a meta way I think it's kind of a massive retcon that if it didn't sell well would be seen as something akin to One More Day in terms of the scale of how much it changes
