I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:
Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.
Dalak, good Smith
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
SquirrelMan for a cover where the helmet is the whole point
This week seismic-2 !
Bryan gets my vote, for not one, not two, but three examples of The King doing what he did best - ridiculously elaborate headgear!
Time to tally the votes!
1 vote each: babyblob, Captain Europe, icctrombone, Kai "the spy", LordMikel, Tami, worstblogever
2 votes each: Bryan, Panto Tako, seismic-2, SquirrelMan
3 votes each: Zelena
And our winner with four votes---DALAK!
As always, if anyone wants to double check my tally, feel free!
Avatar: Here's to the late, great Steve Dillon. Best. Punisher. Artist. EVER!
Congrats to Dalak!
Every day is a gift, not a given right.
Congratulations to Dalak!
And thank you for your votes, foxley, Iron Maiden and Tami.
“Strength is the lot of but a few privileged men; but austere perseverance, harsh and continuous, may be employed by the smallest of us and rarely fails of its purpose, for its silent power grows irresistibly greater with time.” Goethe
Congrats Dalak! And thanks Stony for the vote. I knew it was a risky cover, but as soon as I read the theme my first thought was of Pot on Head Forbush man so I went with it. I also considered voting for Stony's cover, it is a very cute image.
