I think that's stretching it a lot, tbh. The only minimal point of resemblance, besides Genesis probably being egyptian, is marking under their eyes, which don't really look alike.

The same thing happened with Sinister. For as much of a focus as he had up till now, they really, really downgraded his powers. The only thing they showed him being able to do was telepathy. Otherwise everything else he did was via his inventions or just regular guns.
