They should split the difference and de-age him to 14 instead of back to 12. He’d be closer to Damien’s age so the Super Sons could team up again, he could go back to being Superboy and drop the charade of him being Superman, Clark and Lois would get some years back with their son, and he’d be at an age where he can start having relationships and the character could maintain his sexual orientation.

Unfortunately, I don’t think anything will change with the character for the foreseeable future. As long as Tom Taylor is still one of DC’s top creators I think we’re stuck with 18 year old Jon.

Do Damian and Jamie count as new characters at this point?

They debuted this century, but I feel like they debuted so long ago they are just apart of the universe the same way Ted Kord or Dick Grayson are.
Currently Reading: DC v. Vampires / Batman: Urban Legends / Robin / Nightwing / Mister Miracle: The Source of Freedom

The OP did state 20 years as a timeline, so yeah they still count, especially since they’ve stood the test of time and are still active in the present

    1. Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle
    2. Damian Wayne/Robin
    3. Jessica Cruz/Green Lantern
    4. Kate Kane/Batwoman
    5. M’gann M’orzz/Miss Martian
    6. Kaldur/Aqualad
    7. Jason Rusch/Firestorm
    8. Ryan Choi/Atom

Those are the ones that come to mind. Simon Baz, Naomi, Yara Flor, Cyclone and Jon Kent are other names that can be added but they haven’t proven their staying power just yet or haven’t shown up in outside media enough
Done with DC. Can't handle the constant whiplash! Time to go on a hiatus!

Nice. Silencer, Damage (not the one from 90's) and Sideways too. Iirc, wasn't there a 4th character that debuted with their own solo book just like them?
Kenan Kong Superman also a good pick.

Don't believe anyone has mentioned Green Lantern Sojourner "Jo" Mullein or Batman Jace Fox and the 2 Batwings- David Zavimbe and then Luke Fox.

    Someone did mention NAOMI!

    Jason Rusch Firestorm. Good call.

Naomi had her own TV show, Cyclone was in the Black Adam movie, and Jon is in Superman & Lois.

I would put Kate (Batwoman) over Jessica Cruz. She has had a TV series, appeared in a couple animated movies and had a beautiful series by J.H. Williams III.
And unfortunately, Jon would be over Kaldur, M'gann and Ryan Choi, only because DC is pushing him so much. If DC comics took YJ approach to Kaldur and M'gann sooner, they may have been used more in the comics. It was such a miss opportunity that DC didn't recreate YJ using the original 4 members, plus Kaldur and M'gann. I didn't care for Arrowette, so Artemis could have taken her place. But either would've work, though. I would even hire the show's creators to write it after the show was initially cancelled.

Where would you rank Kong Kenan (Superman) and the four other Marvel kids: Eugene Choi, Pedro Peña, Darla Dudley? They appeared in two movies but I doubt they'll ever get powers in comics again.

I still don't think that any of other characters apart from Damain Wayne have really shown staying power in comics.
If they get book (any most of the time they don't appear anywhere) it are either minis or they get cancelled (or radically revamped) pretty quickly because of low sales.
