    Context is king.

X-23's most basic surface level characteristic that any idiot should grasp: Stoicism.
I don't demand that her every minor appearance be a nuance in-depth examination of her character, but is it to much to ask she be written in Archetype?! This is storytelling 101! If you want people to stay invested in a character, you need to, at the bare minimum, write them such a way that they can plausibly be believed to be the same character!

Haven't been paying too much attention to vault stuff. Oh well, if there was anyone to have a duplicate on Krakoa it would be a wolverine.

    Firestar (1986)

But, according to Emma Frost's inner monologue, she started the fire that caused Butter Rum to die of fright. Now, I could have missed something vitally crucial after the fact but, when and where (title and issue please) have you seen Butter Rum alive and well after the Firestar Limited-Series?

It was a joke about him already being resurrected as Brightwind.

New Mutants vol 2, issue 2. Hellion knew Emma for years, and was in on Emma's scheme from the start. He disguised himself and tricked Firestar into thinking he was an actual horse. He spent years undercover, until it was time for Emma to fake his death.

I had similar thoughts as you and I agree with most of this.

I don't think Emma is about to join the X-Men though. She's currently Gillen's character, and I don't see him letting her go. Even with the Quiet Council broken in FoX, I suspect Emma, Destiny, Mystique, Exodus and Hope will still have plotlines in IXM. She might also still be in IIM.
I feel Kate Pryde already fills the 'quits the decomposing Quiet Council to join the superheroic X-Men' beat, so having Emma do the same would be redundant.

I think Forge might end up in Uncanny Avengers, that's where Penance is and Duggan seems to be building a romance between Forge & Monet.

The current iteration of X-Men is a project run and led jointly by Jean Grey and Cyclops.
With Cyclops (most likely) dying during the Gala, Jean is the sole leader of the X-Men (and runs the election during the Gala).

Duggan positioned Synch as Jean's protégé in X-Men 2.
They were training together on their powers in that issue, he's been seen synching and working with her ever since (X-Men Unlimited, etc.)
The Brood arc had a subplot where Synch & Talon showed Scott how strong of a leadership duo they've become from their Vault experience.
Given that Jean has a solo book during FoX (to reconnect with her Phoenix identity?), Synch probably inherits leadership of the X-Men from Jean.

Here's my take on the roster:

Year 3 FoX Roster (August 2023 to December 2023)
    1. Synch (leader)
    2. Talon (leader)
    3. Firestar
    4. Shadowkat
    5. Jubilee or Dazzler > X-Men Vote winner
    6. Fantomex > Hellfire Gala costume variant
    7. Rasputin IV > Hellfire Gala costume variant
    8. Woofer?

    Year 3 post-FoX roster (January 2024 to June 2024)
    1. Jean Grey?
    2. Cyclops?
    3. Synch?
    4. Talon?
    5. Shadowkat
    6. Jubilee or Dazzler > X-Men Vote winner
    7. ?
    8. ?
    9. ?
    10. ?

The FoX section of Year 3 might be about X-Men vs ORCHIS and the post-FoX section of Year 3 might be about X-Men vs CotV.

I believe Duggan's run on X-Men ends around June 2024 with X-Men 35 (LGY 700), leading to an Uncanny X-Men relaunch with a new writer.

What a boring use of Stark's inventions.

Here's the sort of things you could do with Stark's inventions:

The biosignal duplication Stark used on Nitro to make him explode again and again until he was exhausted. I'd like to see Stark's tech used to do something similar to some mutants, like making Nightcrawler teleport again and again until he gets so exhausted trying to aim it someplace safe that he ends up teleporting inside something.

The time-machine he invented in Grell's run used to send some mutants a quadrillion years into the future when the sun has died and the earth is a lifeless husk if it exists at all.

The weapon designed to send Hulk to the Negative Zone used to send some mutants there, where their bodies become the fuel for a massive matter/antimatter explosion.

The depowering gizmo he invented in New Avengers used to make flying mutants fall out of the air and go splat, and aquatic mutants drown.

The new, faster, more powerful version of Extremis he invented in Superior Iron Man used to mutate the mutants, turning them into cronenberg horrors, or simply erasing their mouths and noses, causing them to suffocate.

Instead it's just big robots firing generic blasts. Pointless to make them Iron Man tech if you aren't going to have them do anything generic mookbots can't do.

Well this is just the beginning of what Feilong and Orchis may potentially do with Stark tech and they want favorable optics with the public to start. I think we'll see them using other tools and toys as we move into Fall of X.

Any 'malfunctioning' is likely to fall on Stark, could be his thinking, as Feilong can always claim they're design flaws he 'inherited' when he took over the company, thus making it unlikely that mutants as a whole would turn to or trust Tony or the Avengers - who Orchis knows helped mutants during Judgment Day.

So could be a two-pronged assault. Start attacking mutants publicly and build up distrust towards Tony by extension.
I was thinking along these lines as well. I wonder if Duggan is going to go this route. Also very much looking forward to this crossover.

    1. Synch and Talon are definitely new leaders in year 3. It’s been building since 1st year.
    2. Fantomex probably joins xmen - he got a variant cover + he wasn’t confirmed in any new fall of x books. Eventually xforce
    3. Rasputin IV - got a variant cover and Duggan added tweet with that cover and wrote “welcome” or something similar
    4. Firestar definitely stays - they said she’s having some role during fall of x. Although she could always be that mystery member of UA but idk if she has any kind of relationship with captain America
    5. Jubilee probably won - cassara tweeted once a sketch of her
    6.Shadowkat
    7. Emma but I worry it could be Kingpin or Tony - from xmen 23 previews we know kingpin/Emma plot will be continued by Duggan.

After what is going to happen during the gala and fox I don’t think jean or Scott will return to xmen.

Cyclops might get a new book. There is still a new unannounced book written by Claremont. Who knows. If Jean gets solo written by Louise.

Recently Mark (immortal xmen cover artist) asked xtwitter for their fav jean costumes. He also said it was for some project etc he can’t share yet. So I assume she might join immortal or another project (uncanny xmen?) written by Kieron.

So that when they attack peaceful, law-abiding mutants going about their business and the X-Men come to the rescue...they ultimately cause a lot of property damage and potential loss of lives which Feilong can then turn around and blame on the mutants.
