X-Men Monday #205 – Steve Foxe Talks Marvel’s Voices: Pride 2023 & Dark X-Men

Pretty light X-Men Monday in terms of scoops and even preview art, but Steve Foxe always comes across as competent and passionate which whets my appetite for Dark X-Men.

A bit of a cynical take perhaps but, as cute as it is to read about a creator geeking out over D-list characters for multiple paragraphs, it's really hard to get invested in the likes of Gimmick and Specter when they make an appearance after years of limbo which is where they'll inevitably end up again.

Nothing new on Dark X-men or any art for it. Well that Maddie&Alex piece might be, I can't remember if it was included in the already released art or not.

That was from the last issue of Dark Web, so no Dark X-Men artwork at all other than the cover again.

As for the interview, I'll admit I was hoping for a lot more on Dark X-Men. Instead it was mostly about Gimmick/Pride. Which I get, but I'm still a bit disappointed. I'm also going to take his words to heart to just wait for the issue and not overthink it.

To that I'd say three things:

1) D-list characters often get the best development even if it's for a short time because there's no fear of deviating from an iconic portrayal

2) Multiple D-list characters have gotten another shot at a series after a popular go around in the Krakoan era (Tempo in two volumes of Marauders and the Bishop mini, Nanny and Orphan Maker in Sabretooth & the Exiles after Hellions)

3) You can still enjoy it while it lasts! (See: Hellions)

We know there's at least another woman besides Maddie and Gimmick from Twitter as well.
