Default Should DC create a new Starman and ongoing?

    Or keep using previous Starmen?
Did the James Robinson Jack Knight ongoing basically cap off any future efforts of having a new Starman ongoing?

I thought Robinson's version of Starman was something that Robinson and DC agreed wouldn't be used going forward unless Robinson was involved.

DC did later bring back other past versions of Starman in Justice League of America after the Jack Knight series ended.

I’m not talking about a new Jack Knight Starman series.
But a new series with a new Starman.

Unfortunately I might be that one guy coming here to say he'd like to see more of the Will Payton version of Starman.

I loved Will Payton’s series when Roger Stern wrote it. Wasn’t a fan of Len Strazewski’s run and Eclipso’s involvement in Will’s origin. Also didn’t like the Will is Gavyn retcon in Jack Knight’s series.

I guess it was a way to tie them all altogether.
Jack is Ted’s son. Jack is David’s brother. Mikaal is Jack’s best friend.
Will is Jack’s brother-in-law. Prince Gavyn is Will.

I would agree. I think if we got any version, it would be that one.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

I like new characters so I’d be into a new Starman.

I think for the time being Stargirl still fills the Starman role in the DCU. Jack handed the mantle to her when he retired. If anything they just need to do more with Courtney.

But during the later 2000s, they also had the adult Starboy, from Legion of SuperHeroes, be in the present as the Starman of the JSA at the same time Courtney was Stargirl:

Hell no! I don't want current DC doing anything with this franchise.
    AKA FlashFreak
    Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.

    Current Pulls: Not a thing!

I'm on the camp that says they should focus more on Courtney. Have her age a bit to how she'd logically be by now (early 20s) and give her an ongoing.
Mikaal and Will Payton could appear there.

How about a series that tells stories from the past and present day called THE STARMEN? No need to tell present day stories with Jack Knight unless Robinson wants to tell them. Plenty of other Starman characters to tell stories about without creating a brand new one.

Yeah have a Supergirl woman of tomorrow type book, but with Courtney becoming Starwoman.
