Who are your top 5 (or more) All-Time favorite writers at DC Comics. List the writer and the comic(s) you loved the most from the writer.
I hope I'm right because this could be so much fun to see everyone's lists.

1. Paul Levitz - Legion of Super Heroes (1980s)
2. Steve Englehart - Justice League of America (late 1970s)
3. Keith Giffen - Justice League International / L.E.G.I.O.N '89 (1980s)
4. Mark Waid - Kingdom Come / Flash (1990s)
5. Len Wein - Justice League of America (1970s)
Definitely, My Top (3) Three choices...
- Chuck Dixon: Nightwing
- Jeph Loeb: Superman
- Jerry Ordway: The Power of SHAZAM!
Hard to rank.
Mark Waid - Flash, Kingdom Come, Birthright, JLA, Flash & Green Lantern: The Brave & the Bold, 52
Alan Moore - Watchmen, Swamp Thing, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, various other DC characters & titles
Grant Morrison - Batman, JLA, All-Star Superman, Green Lantern, Arkham Asylum, Final Crisis, 52
Greg Rucka - Wonder Woman, 52, Gotham Central,
Geoff Johns - Flash (Wally), Infinite Crisis, JSA, Green Lantern, Superman (Brainiac, New Krypton), 52
Johns should be higher as he's written a lot of my favorite comics but he let me down too many times. I'll probably revise this list after recalling some older stuff.

John Ostrander….Suicide Squad, Hawkman, Martian Manhunter, Firestorm, JLA Incarnations, Manhunter.
Alan Moore…Swamp Thing, the Superman and Green Lantern stories. (Could consider his run on Supreme as a wonderful homage to Silver Age Superman).
Garth Ennis…Hitman. Yes…just the one series…but what a series.
1. James Robinson- Starman
2. Mark Waid- The Flash
3. Geoff Johns- Hawkman/Green Lantern/ & JSA
4. Jerry Ordway - Power of Shazam
5. Dan Jurgens- Teen Titans .....mainly because of Ray Palmer
AKA FlashFreak
Favorite Characters:
DC: The Flash (Jay & Wally), Starman- Jack Knight, Stargirl, & Shazam!.
MARVEL: Daredevil, Spider-Man (Peter Parker), & Doctor Strange.
Current Pulls: Not a thing!
Hmmm...
In no particular order:
1. Grant Morrison (Animal Man, Doom Patrol, JLA, Multiversity, GL, etc.) - Not the most naturalistic writer (heir to Kirby on that front), but on pure Ideas Per Page, he's the modern king.
2. Roy Thomas (All things Earth-2) - The man loves the Golden Age, and so do I.
3. Mark Waid (Flash, 52, World's Finest, Kingdom Come) - The guy who, I think, truly "gets" why the DCU is cool.
4. John Ostrander (Suicide Squad, Firestorm, Spectre, Martian Manhunter) - The DC writer who, I think, knows how to best play with the toys.
5. Paul Levitz (Legion) - There was a period when the Legion was almost as popular as the X-Men.
Honorable mention:
Gail Simone
Peter David
Alan Moore (not enough work to qualify, but damn if he didn't make his mark)
Keith Giffen (more people need to talk about Keith)
James Robinson (Cry for Justice kept him off the list)
Gardner Fox
Denny O'Neil
Jack Kirby (if only for the "Tiger Force" speech)
Grant Morrison is my #1 for his 2006-2013 Batman run primarily. Gothic and All-Star Superman also. After him, Denny O'Neil.
