    Talking Golden/Silver Age Superboy Appreciation!

Lets hear it for Kal-El in the younger years!

Not all these clones or "wannabes"...But the one true SUPERBOY!

Here are some of my favorite covers:

    Superboys 1st appearance!

1st appearance of Mon-El, followed by the 1st appearance of Ultra boy!

Show your love for the ORIGINAL and one true Superboy!!!!

No matter how many reboots, new origins, reinterpretations or suit redesigns. In the end, he will always be SUPERMAN

Has any hero ever pulled off such a powerful show of strength like young Kal?

It's no wonder that later in life young Kal would Dominate the super hero universe!

An interesting dilemma is raised for the Kents.

I guess this helps explain where Silver Age Cover Superman came from.

Just finished reading Superboy #98. (see pix in my first post).

Told my dad to buy it for me months ago (because I love Kal and Ultra Boy) and it came in the mail today from mycomicsshop.

The 1st story was a fun silver age type story with Kal trying to get into a rich preppy school to find out what the dean was up to (a well know criminal). I loved how the kids and the towns people act around Kal in these old stories. They truly loved him and were thankful that Superboy was apart of their town. He uncovered the bad guys plans using his super brain and not brawn... and helped some parents find something to be proud of their son for along the way

In the main story we are introduced to "Gary Crane aka Jo-Nah aka Ultra Boy" and his "old man chaperone" as they come from the future as part of Ultra Boy's initiation into the Legion. I loved how they never fought or had the initial dislike that a lot of other superhero meetings have. I also enjoyed how Ultra Boy saved Pete Ross twice during the story. His origin is also included in this issue. The end of the story is a teaser about Kal meeting Jo-Nah again "but not how he suspects"... I am curious if any of you know when Ultra Boy's Second appearance is? I hope it is issue 117 of Superboy, because I got that one too

My only disappointment is that we only saw Ultra Boy's Penetra-Vision and no other powers.....

I loved these old stories as a kid and have fond memories of the old Superboy series from the 80's, with Kurt Schaffenberger (sp?) on art. VERY nostalgic stuff, for me.
Read my free superhero webcomic, The Ill!
