10 Films That Define The 90s

Independence Day (Brought back the bombastic star-studded action film)
Titanic (I mean for a while it was the biggest film of all time).
T2
Goodfellas (On of the most watched films ever).
Shawshank Redemption (See Goodfellas Answer).
Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan (Tie for being Spielberg's Best and Brought 2 events of WW2 alive. For Saving Private Ryan I mean the opening scene).
Jurassic Park.
Pulp Fiction.
Scream (Revitalized the Horror Genre).
Clerks (For its influence on the Indy Scene).

Fargo or the Big Lebowski came close to being on the list.

Left off Matrix and TPM due to them coming out late in 99 they more influenced the 00's.

Bravo, it's difficult to find an argument against listing these (that I quoted here, which is not all). Ind Day does define the 90s and it's a film that I wouldn't much bother to watch anymore, to be honest...Titanic is sorta similar. Jurassic Park has held up far better (just a classic), along with Pulp Fiction, Shawshank, Saving Private Ryan, Scream, T2, etc.

Left off Matrix and TPM due to them coming out late in 99 they more influenced the 00's.

A fair point, but is "more influence the 00s" the standard, or the only one? I might list The Matrix as representing the 90s (because I definitely think it does, an accumulation of the 90s even), even if it represents the 00s as well.

Galaxy Quest. Star Trek and nerd culture were at an insane height at the time with the Next Generation movies, Deep Space Nine having its last season, Voyager still going on and Star Wars Episode 1 coming out, and this movie really captured that to great effect.

A Few Good Men. Tom Cruise and Jack Nickolson in perhaps their most iconic 90s roles.

Ace Ventura. Jim Carrey was THE star of the 90s and it started here.

Austin Powers. The 90s fad.

Pokemon the First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back. If you're a 90s kid, this was your jam.

Space Jam. Michael Jordan = 90s.

Disney Renaissance films. Gonna lump these together since it's hard to say which was more impactful on 90s culture between Robbin Willaims' Genie, Mufasa's death, or 'I'll Make a Man Out of You.'
